Oh how I know the feeling. I said the same things right after the election and then had to take a six month hiatus. At this point I think anyone who is a fan of Trump doesn't deserve any of my energy. Only a fool would support a man who hates other human beings and the planet we live on. Now it's time to get our shit together and insist on a government that is willing to be sane, serious, humanitarian and earth friendly. The only other option is to turn our backs on government all together (and I know we have at least one member here who would support that notion) but I don't see that happening. We have to get through this shit 4 years and then rebuild.

And before we get into the usual round of "don't resist arrest, just do whatever the cops say, none of this would have happened if she had just followed police direction....", pay attention to the government argument and the reason that a re-trial is being ordered - the government position is that her laughter alone was criminal conduct, not her refusal to go with police when they tried to remove her.

And before we get into the usual round of "don't resist arrest, just do whatever the cops say, none of this would have happened if she had just followed police direction....", pay attention to the government argument and the reason that a re-trial is being ordered - the government position is that her laughter alone was criminal conduct, not her refusal to go with police when they tried to remove her.
I think it's cool that she rejected a plea bargain- that confirms that she her intent was to protest. But I'm surprised she said she didn't expect to be arrested. Generally, especially under current circumstances, that kind of protest will lead to arrest. In fact, most people who engage in acts of civil disobedience expect to be arrested and sometimes, like when 350.org founder Bill McKibben protested congress for being slow to acct on climate change, even hope to be arrested. In this case, her arrest does much to strengthen her protest by bringing a lot of attention to it. Rather than a small footnote, she has become a headline.
