Its one part "contest"/"reality show" mindset. People identify with a 'team', and Republican can be attractive as it has an aura of wealth and success. The party has also made an enemy of intellectualism, which creates a pretty low barrier of entry to get into the club. Its like when Happy Gilmore penetrated the PGA tour and all the rif raf started appearing at PGA events. Many of these people measure the President's success with how angry/upset people get... then enjoy thumbing their nose and spiking the football.... without paying any attention to what the legislation entails or means to them. Its one part the fact that the generations who had to live through WWI, the Depression, and WWII have mostly died off. My Grandparents who escaped Europe in WWII were always 'prepping' for a major global catastrophe... not doomsday prepping per-se, but saving money, working hard, and being weary. They knew that such events are possible, if not inevitable. The population has become de-sensitized to all that, which also holds true with these google-made anti-vaccine lunatics.
And the last part is those who are R, and will not budge from voting that way (there are D people like this as well who would vote D if, say, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck were running against a decent/respectable R). They were whipped up into a frenzy by fear and the promise of Supreme Court nominations and the fact that Obama and Hillary are the most left wing politicians ever (not even close).

If I could armchair psychoanalyze for a moment... I'd say the US has a sick individual as its president.
With the proper checks and balances, the US won't have Caligula on its hands... but it's shocking to witness a lunatic running the controls of the most powerful country on the planet.

I have asked my boss (an attorney) several times WHY he voted for Trump; why he likes him soooo much better than Obama. He consistently says "He loves this country. He loves the values it was built on"... as if Obama did not. WTF... Trump loves MONEY AND HIMSELF. I have to STOP myself from talking to him because I get so PISSED OFF.
This is like a nightmare that we never wake up from.....

It's hilarious. If there's one president in my lifetime that does not car about his country, it's Trump. The others, even if they were not quite there, competence-wise, I think really wanted to do what was best for the country. I don't think this guy gives a damn. This is an ego trip. You can't be an effective President because the novelty of being president is appealing.
