Are there attractive Anarchists? And if so, would that change Team Trump Treason’s opinion of them? Maybe he’d do better to help them with their posture rather than exacerbate it?
You can't just have an abandoned police precinct and dudes like this walking around with AR-15's (I thought liberals wanted those banned?). There doesn't appear to be any violence or looting, which is good. Though police say local businesses are being threatened with extortion, per Fox News anyway.
For the life of me I'm puzzled as why we have military bases named after Confederate generals. Many were straight up racists, many owned slaves and fought against the US. If I'm mistaken but isn't that treason. Yet the names remain, I've had ROTC training at Fort Bragg and had no idea where the name came from but I do now.
Peace
We could end up with a real issue going forward about how we deal with our history. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe and many other founding fathers owned slaves. What do we do about that? Do we remove all monuments to them and anyone with a history of slave owning or racism? (They beheaded the Christopher Columbus statue here in Boston the other night and the city is removing the statue this morning). Do we change our money and remove Washington, Jefferson and Jackson (Jackson should definitely go)? I think we have to mention that aspect of these peoples' lives when we teach our kids history but still have to teach the positive aspects of their contributions to our history. It's tricky.
Yes it's tricky but if military bases, statues or our money is never to be changed or discontinued then we should place a notation of that person's history in ALL their positive or negative contributions to this country. No matter whether it's on a statue, money or military base, just give the FULL picture of that person.
Peace
i never understood why we would ever name military bases or training facilities after generals who failed and lost the defining war of their lives. seems like the ultimate participation trophy to me.

I haven't been up there since this started, so don't have any personal, first-hand experience in the autonomous zone. But here's a different perspective from our local weekly alternative paper The Stranger:

Yeah it all seems pretty peaceful, which begs the question, why have the police abandoned their precinct?
I believe that they decided that having a massive police and national guard presence there day after day only created more problems and led to one side or the other escalating unnecessarily. So they took down their blockades and cleared out. The protesters then seemed to settle in for the long haul, but without the nightly gas, spray and bullets. It sounds like they will reoccupy the precinct building at some point, but want to work with the protest leaders and do it in a way that keeps the peace. It is a very strange situation, but in this case so far fewer cops = less violence. I don't think the current situation is sustainable, but for now there is some sort of detente.

Strange. Other protests (peaceful ones like this one is said to be) have seen some signs of unity between cops and protesters (kneeling together, etc), or reasonable debate between cops and protesters.
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump was ready to discuss race
relations and policing on Thursday before a friendly audience in Dallas
as he weighs executive action on police reform in response to the
national outcry following the death of George Floyd.
Notably,
Dallas’ mayor and three top law enforcement officials, all of whom are
black, won’t be on hand for the roundtable discussion at the Dallas
campus of Gateway Church.
Dallas Police Chief U. Renee Hall,
Dallas County Sheriff Marian Brown, and Dallas County District Attorney
John Creuzot did not receive invitations to the event, according to
their offices. Mayor Eric Johnson was invited but will not be attending
because of prior commitments, according to an aide.
A senior
administration who briefed reporters ahead of Trump’s trip, speaking on
condition of anonymity, said other law enforcement officials will be in
attendance but did not directly respond to a question about why the
three officials weren’t invited.

A TWOFER!!!! PROLIFE AND DISMISSIVELY BIGOTED
I’ve got $60 burning a hole in my pocket. Should I go for 1 collectible ornament or 3 onesies and a 2 piece meal from KFC? I was always told there would be tough decisions to make in my life, but I was not expecting something like this.

Depends on which you feel more strongly about, bringing 3 babies into the world or celebrating being allowed to say Merry Christmas again.

I believe Hillary testified over two days, one for 11 hours and the other for 14. And still no indictments. Team Trump Treason could barely muster a response to Team Mueller's written questions, never mind be deposed or testify. Weak.
