  • I suppose some people think we got to the moon because of people like Joe the Plumber and the guy who tied weather balloons to his lawn chair?
Here I thought we got there due to smart people. Not condescending assholes.
Sometimes the outspoken moron needs to be put in their place. If some fool (nobody here) blathers away about nonsense... people should not feel indebted to nod out of 'respect'.

I've said it before: sometimes when you wrestle with pigs you get muddy.

'Elitism' is starting to parallel the term 'try-hard'.

They're both in our current vernacular to normalize- almost celebrate inferior qualities in humans: moronicness (elitism) and laziness (try-hard).
I assume my2hands was actually referring to all of us in this thread....
    I know.

Those terms are feeble terms that are uttered by the weak to take the wind out of the sails of people who typically contribute much to society.

The backwards bumf**k slurs 'elitism' as he drools chewing tobacco down the front of his shirt (as if higher intelligence is something to be mocked). The lazy bastard snickers 'try-hard' to the person making great effort (as if doing so makes weak and feeble efforts acceptable and more 'the norm').

    * I get the sense my2hands is using them in the context of being confrontational as he has become these past few weeks.
I'm not weak, i'm not a backwards bumfuck, and i don't chew tobacco.  But i did learn as a child that name calling is not nice and is not acceptable, and has also been rampant since 2016.

Morons, idiots, suckers, blah, blah, blah...

You (us) blame trump for the toxic discourse we are currently experiencing...... not me, i blame you (us), it takes two sides to tango... congratulations on being Trumps dance partner and helping destroy common civility in our political atmosphere

Also, im not confrontational, you would know if i was... unless challenging the echo chamber in here is confrontational? You prefer everyone in a circle jerk agreeing with each other, slapping each other on the back, and calling everybody on the other side a fucking moron scumbag redneck?

When they go low, we go into the gutter... i learned name calling was wrong when i was a child... seems progressives and moderates forgot the lesson.

Carry on Cletus, I've got a reservation for us at Golden Corral tmw night and the end piece has your name on it
So you're saying to allow the far right to drag the line (middle ground or the middle way) further to the right? Remain civil despite the blatant disregard for civility? Among a wide spectrum of things... when minorities are targeted with policies, women are marginalized, the disabled are mocked, opponents are ridiculed, and lies run rampant... you expect opponents of this movement to remain civil?

    Come on, man.
    Yup. 100%

I have always been a believer in the school of MLK Jr and Gandhi myself... the progress of the Civil Rights Movement and the defeat of the British Empire without a single shot being fired wasn't accomplished by name calling and elitism. But feel free to continue, you are at least funny and providing some much needed comedy relief, you're use of Cletus is pretty legendary lol

It's not elitism, being able to see that someone willingly voting for a climate-change-denier and a complete tool who can't even close an umbrella are fucking stupid.

They're fucking up the progress of this planet. Fuck them and their "ten extra dollars in the wallet and a wall to keep out the brown an black and Hillarys emails". The world has not time to have the biggest superpower in the world be filled up with racist and undeducated tools. You should have fixed that problem before a reality show star came along and showed how fucking whack your society is. These people actively contribute to the downfall of this planet, and all life around us -- so, with 20 years left to change things they are pretty fucking worthless.

The US shouldn't be a backwards-ass-banana-republic in 2018 with so much at stake for the planet, but hey - here we are. Thanks too these not-elitist people and you not being able to shine a light on your corrupt political system.

So you're judge and jury when it comes to what "names" are or are not acceptable? You've decided to consistently insult everyone here, and then for some reason expect everyone to acknowledge that you're on some kind of moral high ground, so yeah, you're acting like an AMT elitist, no question.

I think fighting fascism with non-violence and diplomacy in 1939 would have our world look a hell of a lot different today. Hitler wasn't playin'.

Trump has more than demonstrated he's willing to shit all over anyone if it suits his agenda (and not just during his presidency). He's a shmuck. And so are his supporters. I have no respect for them. None. Sorry. How can I? And people I have no respect for don't get any of my respect.

    Why would he?

Obama resurrected the US from the gutter after GW let it spiral there. Further, he was a leader you could be proud of. He never mocked disabled people, played the puppet for world leaders that had compromising material on him, or walked up steps with toilet paper on his shoe after having a poop.

And no matter what... I've detected the good in you. I'll never not respect you as a human being. I think you've been off base in recent weeks, but in the bigger picture... you're solid.

I own my shit, unlike most in here... i was once guilty of all the above... and sometimes still want to do it lol... but then i looked in the mirror, stepped back, had a realization, and decided to correct my ways.

But feel free to name call "the other side" if it makes you feel better... but it's not accomplishing anything, it's quite the opposite actually in my opinion
My point was obviously that you're still guilty of it, and that you haven't corrected your ways. You've just changed directions.

Calling out the rampant elitism and name-calling  currently found with progressives and here is not name calling, or elitism.

Where am i calling people scum, losers, idiots, etc?
So you're judge and jury when it comes to what "names" are or are not acceptable? You've decided to consistently insult everyone here, and then for some reason expect everyone to acknowledge that you're on some kind of moral high ground, so yeah, you're acting like an AMT elitist, no question.
How have i insulted anybody? Disagreeing is not insulting
I would have thought that by now you'd know that I have no issues with disagreement. You can always assume that if I've got an issue like this it is because of something above and beyond simply disagreeing.
Trump's dance partner. Circle-jerk. In the gutter. Elitists (ad nauseam), echo chamber, accusing us being hypocrites (without warrant - you just base it on mindless assumptions), etc etc etc.
Yeah yeah, we get it, you think you've morally elevated yourself above us. We, the elitists.

Plaster Caster. Grab a hold of me faster.
    Exhibit A ladies & gentlemen...

because America is "full of racists and uneducated fools" and is a "backwards-ass-banana-republic"

Did you say that 2008-2016 when Obama was POTUS? that's what i thought

    Why would he?

Obama resurrected the US from the gutter after GW let it spiral there. Further, he was a leader you could be proud of. He never mocked disabled people, played the puppet for world leaders that had compromising material on him, or walked up steps with toilet paper on his shoe after having a poop.
Same 300 million people here for the most part... so did he stereotype the entire country as a banana republuc full of racists and idiots then?

You guys constantly generalizing and sterotyping the people of this country is ridiculous, and incorrect.

Maybe everybody didnt get taught name calling is wrong when they were children?

I think fighting fascism with non-violence and diplomacy in 1939 would have our world look a hell of a lot different today. Hitler wasn't playin'.

Trump has more than demonstrated he's willing to shit all over anyone if it suits his agenda (and not just during his presidency). He's a shmuck. And so are his supporters. I have no respect for them. None. Sorry. How can I? And people I have no respect for don't get any of my respect.
This isnt Nazi Germany or WW2, but nice try
