My only advice to Don Trump?

Leave the Jewish people out of it.  Like, avoid the topic.  Stupid.

Tempo...the approval numbers always fluctuate. But the one thing that separates Trump from any other president, since polling began, is how consistent his numbers have been in the low 40’s. Occasionally they’ll dip into the upper 30’s. But he has had no real wild swings up or down like every other president has experienced. He’s also the only president never to top 50%. This is also a reason why changes of 3-5% get some play on the news—bigger swings than usual for him.

One other thing thin I saw from this poll: of people who dislike both Trump and Biden, they support Biden 43-10%. This is the argument I’ve been making for years when people assume he will win next year just because he won in ‘16. He will not be facing a candidate nearly as unlikable as HRC.

Wish I could get some comfort in that, but comparing Biden in 2019 to Hillary in 2016 is not apples to apples.

Compare Bidens rating in fall 2020 if he is the nom to Hillary in fall 2016. That would be an accurate analysis

The big factor of course is the gop and trump Reputation War Machine Against Democrats. Its lethal.

If any hesitations, check out Hillary's approval rating 2014 vs 2016.

They had been working on Hillary for years though.  The Benghazi crap was all BS to fire up the right wing idiots.

Trump can't use the same old crap that he used in 2016.  He can't claim we need to "drain the swamp" because he is swampier than anyone in history.  He can't claim that he can fix problems (i.e. Israel, debt....which he said he would have paid off) because is track record is shit.  He likely won't even be able to claim credit for an infrastructure bill.  Possibly won't be able to claim credit for that dumbass wall either.

The economy will falter even if slightly.  Unemployment will be up, stock market will be down from highs, blue collar workers are still fucked, farmers are not happy, etc.

Trump's best argument in 16 was " what have you got to lose"? Well that one won't fly anymore.

I'm hoping the dems give that bald fat fucker a nickname.  If I was advising any of those candidates (especially Warren) I would be calling him "Bankrupt Don" or "Captain Combover" or something humiliating.  Imagine how tRump would react to that.  He would absolute lose his shit.

Shell union workers have been made to attend a Trump speech (aka insane rally performed by a raving lunatic, peppered with outlandish lies) and were explicitly ordered not to protest or make any kind of noise or statement at all to show a lack of support. They had to just stand and wait for hours for this event. If they refused to attend they would lose pay. This is at a massive polluting plastics plant no less.
Someone tell me again how Trump and his administration can't be compared to Hitler and the Nazi party.

The union person was fine with it.

“This is just what Shell wanted to do and we went along with it,” Ken Broadbent, business manager for Steamfitters Local 449, told the newspaper. He said he wouldn’t “bad rap” the situation.

“We’re glad to have the jobs. We’re glad to have the project built,” he said. “The president is the president whether we like him or dislike him. We respect him for the title.”

Everyone involved in that fascist move should fired. Including Trump. I am in a union, and if they tried to pull this, everyone would have shown up with fucking torches and pitchforks. And the Laboir board would have been on the company like a rabid pitbull. The fact that the workers actually felt cowed enough to tolerate this, and that the union rep actually felt like this was an option, definitely does speak volumes about where America is right now, both politically and in terms of workers' rights. Absolutely disgusting. Fascism has arrived in the USA.

so apparently there was a "rally" today a few miles from my house. Some dude in an adbook group my wife is a part of was shopping for a car and took some pics of a handful seeming white nationalists on a picket line carrying various flags. of course one of them was a T 2020 flag.....

looked kinda pathetic to me. will see if she can screengrab a couple this guy took.

Trump to drop out of 2020 race within months, former aide Scaramucci claims

Donald Trump will quit the 2020 race and not seek re-election, according to a former top aide.

Anthony Scaramucci, the short-lived White House communications director, said the president will likelu quit the race in March to avoid the humiliation of defeat.

“He’s gonna drop out of the race because it’s gonna become very clear. Okay, it’ll be March of 2020. He’ll likely drop out by March of 2020. It’s gonna become very clear that it’s impossible for him to win,” he said in an interview with Vanity Fair.

“He’s got the self-worth in terms of his self-esteem of a small pigeon. It’s a very small pigeon. And so you think this guy’s gonna look at those poll numbers and say — he’s not gonna be able to handle that humiliation.”

He also encouraged a primary challenger to take on Mr Trump, using a Game of Thrones analogy to make his case.

“You know, this is like ‘Game of Thrones.’ We need an Arya Stark, okay? We gotta take this guy out because this is like the Night King.

“The minute the Night King is vaporised, all the zombies are gonna fall by the wayside, right? We had the Wicked Witch of the West, but he is the Wicked Witch of the West Wing. We gotta get some water thrown on him. He’ll start melting.”

In recent weeks, Scaramucci has escalated the feud with his old boss, saying Mr Trump would eventually “turn” on the “entire country”, and likening him to the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.

I'll ride the wave where it takes me......

I’ll keep my fingers crossed as well, but I don’t believe anything this dude says. He’s basically a celebrity now and I feel like everything he says and does is an attempt at saving face for his complicity.

People said the same shit in 2016.

The Mooch is just saying this to stay in the news cycle, fuck him.

Fuck everyone who’s worked for or working for Team Trump Treason. I hope they all become unemployable and fade into obscurity or prison after this nightmare of an administration ends.

You must be operating under your own special definition of fascism.  As much as I hate Trump, this isn't fascism.  If the plant is closed, why would one be paid for not being onsite? That's part of the union contract.

Dude...Nope, I'm not even going to bother anymore. I've got better things to do than try to convince someone of something that is blatantly obvious. I cannot believe you are actually defending this move, or trying to say it wasn't an authoritarian thing to do by, I guess, attempting hold my comment up to the dictionary test.

Agreed, this is definitely not fascism but typical union leadership telling the rank and file what to do. If I read the article correctly members who went were paid overtime for attending lol.  “In addition, workers who decided not to listen to the president’s speech reportedly would not be paid overtime rates routinely built in for extra time during the week.“

@Spiritual_Chaos & @PJ_Soul - so you think I'm a defender of Trump?  Negative, I'm a defender of fact based thinking.  You can't bother because it's not fascism by any definition, unless it's one you invent on your own or hyperbole.

I won't even ask SC because he's never been able to formulate an argument that doesn't involve a quote from a movie made in the US.  He never even defended that ridiculous anti-capitalism paper on the other thread.

I disagree with this take as well.  It's not the union's fault either.  Anyone could have chosen not to come to work and there could be no legal consequences for doing so.  But you don't get paid, because the workers are non-exempt.  And because you have a day unpaid, you will likely not receive OT for the week because you won't be above the number required for OT, since you skipped a day a work.  And why should the worker be paid if he/she didn't come into work and the factory wasn't operating?  If one has a beef, it should be with Shell for shutting the factory down for a day for a political rally.  But again, that's not even in the ball park of being 'fascism'.
