What I've been saying about these post-2016 election Trump rallies are they're tantamount to the Two Minutes Hate from Orwell's 1984. As a refresher for those that might not remember, or for those not familiar with the book, all the party members would be summoned to watch a propaganda video vilifying the "enemy of the state" William Goldstein. And then all the party members would spend two minutes screaming and cursing at images Goldstein. The problem though is that none of the party members are even sure that Goldstein even exists. But they're told he's evil by their leaders, so they hate him. I felt the same way about the "Lock her up" chants about Hillary after Trump was already President. While it was dumb even during the campaign, she was the direct opponent to Trump, so to chant negatively about her sorta makes sense (in Trump's world anyway). But after the election? For all intents and purposes, she doesn't even really exist anymore (like Goldstein). But Trump, like the "inner party" in 1984, needs to have the party members riled up and nothing riles them up more than supposed enemy.
Omar is similar here. And look, I can't stand that woman. I think she's a two-faced anti-Semite who is sympathetic to terrorist groups. But that's just my opinion. And like Hillary, she's not an "enemy" of anything. And unlike Hillary, she's no threat at all to Trump's presidency. So why rile up the crowd over her? Because it's the Two Minutes Hate.....they have to hate somebody. I wonder how many people in that crowd even had an opinion of her before she was an "enemy" of Trump? Probably not many.

Well unfortunately for those four candidates, the "rules" of American politics applied. No rules applied to Trump in 2016. It was crazy to watch. Can you imagine if Mitt Romney wouldn't show his tax-returns? His candidacy would be over immediately. Or imagine if David Duke and the KKK endorsed Romney. When asked about the endorsement, Romney would have said "There's no place for racism in America. I completely disavow that endorsement." But ya know what? I bet Romney would say to a staff member behind closed doors "Man, wouldn't it be great if I could accept that endorsement get the racist vote?" Trump on the other hand? "Duh I'm not even sure who David Duke is. I'd have to research him." Now that's not exactly an "acceptance" of the endorsement. Trump seeks to divide the people with his rhetoric and creates policies to reward his supporters, not the country. Now maybe you can argue that those policies do actually reward the country (I would strenuously disagree), but the way he frames them is designed to separate them.
