Well also, Bill Maher isn't actually all that far left. Plus, this guy was just a nut-job - the far left is not known for its armed militancy, obviously. This guy doesn't represent anyone at all. If it were a right wing anti-government militant, that would actually be a different story, because there are in fact armed militant right wing movements with real roots and proclaimed agendas. The left really doesn't have a counterpart movement. So I don't think there is an equivalency in that context. I would say that the far right is MUCH more dangerous than the far left, in many tangible ways.
