To be fair... banning bump stocks is more than Obama did
With a republican congress that absolutely refused to give him a win. On anything. Because he’s black.
Its politics. Dems don't want to give Trump a win on anything Trump does, is that because he's white?
We can go back to Bush and so on. Why is it suddenly about race when Obama takes office, even though its has been going on for generations?
lol Obama was scrutinized about his birthplace for the whole time he was president..
And democrats came up with 100 reasons why Trump wasn't qualified as well. I don't think they protested against Trump because he was white, do you? But if you protest against Obama it can only be because he was black?
Do you think if Obama were white and his name was Stephen Hobart Smith that there would have been the call to release his birth certificate and be accused of being born in Kenya or any other country for that matter? Prison reform? Both sides are not the same.

No, of course not. But there would have been something else to try and delegitimize him. Just like the dozens of attempts on Trump. How is one racist and not the other?

If Obama was white, he wouldn't have been the nominee, and he wouldn't have won

How about that for a hypothesis?

I believe that to be possible. I mean, didn't he have a record number of black votes and block voters turned out in record numbers when he ran? That could have been the difference. It seems reasonable to say he may not have won if he were not black.

He also wouldn't have existed at all if he wasn't black. I mean, there comes a time when hypothesis is completely worthless. This is one of those times.

Such as? And how has Team trump Treason been delegitimized? Has anyone accused him of being born in a different country? That he's a liar? True. Swindles people? True. Tells a lie or mistruth, on average, 8 times per day? True. Is ignorant? True. Doesn't listen to his advisors, intelligence community? True. What were the things that were said about Obama and which or how many of them had merit or any basis in reality? Would the same be said of someone who is white?

Unfortunately racism will always exist, and Obama did experience some of it. But I don't believe that was the driving force of 99% of his opposition and there would have not been a noticeable difference if he were white.
I can't predict what other schemes would have been concocted, there is no way of knowing that and if I gave an answer there would be no merit behind it.
Seems like we're going in circles. You think people pushed back to Obama because of his color. I don't believe they are related. Every president since I've been around has received more criticism and pushback from the other party than the president before him. Its part of the job now.

Agreed, he would be accused of being an alcoholic IRA member lol

Just like McCain had an illegitimate black child in South Carlolina

Socialist had nothing to do with his race... any Democrat would likely face that one as they do now, especially trying to address health care

Was it racist when 9% of democratic black voters stayed home in 2016 because a black person wasn't on the ticket, handing the election to Big Don?

Why else would they stay home during the largest voter turnout ever? Oh, right, Russian hashtags

Everyone scared to touch that one? Lol

If Obama was white, he wouldn't have been the nominee, and he wouldn't have won

How about that for a hypothesis?
That is just trolling.  I know it's the internet but that's literally just making shit up.
That's what a hypothesis is, making shit up and seeing if it's true or not

    I think it's true

No, it wasn't. I think when you're thinking about racism (or sexism probably), you're failing to acknowledge the terrible inequity of power involved, both historically and currently. That inequity really really matters, and changes everything when considering what is and isn't racist (or sexist). You act like it's all a level playing field or something.

Low voter turnout is weaksauce. More like racist Obama voters switched to trump in 2016:

new study shows that this response isn’t as powerful as it may seem. The study, from three political scientists from around the country, takes a statistical look at a large sample of Obama-Trump switchers. It finds that these voters tended to score highly on measures of racial hostility and xenophobia — and were not especially likely to be suffering economically.”

Yeah I don't think it's racist that those black democrats didn't get out to vote in 2016 like they did in the Obama elections. But I also don't think historical inequality is a good excuse for them not getting out to vote. You noted that the playing field isn't level....and you're right. And that's all the more reason for them to get out and vote. A poor black women's vote counts the same as a rich white man's. They have to take advantage of that particular equality.

I'm not saying there are good reasons not to vote (although IF there is a decent reason not to, that's about the only one, seriously). I'm just saying that that particular reason for black people not to vote isn't racist.

Ok I got you there (that it's not racist for them to not bother to vote in 2016) but I'm confused as to what the decent reason not to is that you're referencing.

Talking about multiple polling sites with ample voting machines and no lines in repub districts and few and far between polling sites with few voting machines in predominantly minority dem districts, in red states. Oklahoma City, I think it was, tried to move or did move the polling location outside of the range of public transportation, so afraid of the Hispanic vote were they.

And look at what FL is doing ahead of 2020. The voters restored voting rights for convicted felons in 2018 and now the repubs are trying to place conditions on it to disenfranchise them because the majority are minority. And the beat goes on.

Oh well then that I don't agree with. I think they could protest with their vote. Even if it's for some third-party candidate.

Ok I got you there (that it's not racist for them to not bother to vote in 2016) but I'm confused as to what the decent reason not to is that you're referencing.
In protest of the terrible racial inequality in politics and society, or total disengagement in the process for the same reason.
Oh well then that I don't agree with. I think they could protest with their vote. Even if it's for some third-party candidate.
That is easy for white people to say. I think you're underestimating the pain and disenfranchisement and anger involved here. It's fine and dandy to nobly uphold the principle of actively participating in a democracy, but when it feels like all that often-touted democracy has done for you and yours is to cause suffering and injustice and rage, and that is just highlighted by a bunch of white fucking politicians, it's not so clear cut, right?

Was it racist when 9% of democratic black voters stayed home in 2016 because a black person wasn't on the ticket, handing the election to Big Don?

Why else would they stay home during the largest voter turnout ever? Oh, right, Russian hashtags

Everyone scared to touch that one? Lol
Except in those states where the GOP made it almost impossible for minority’s to get to a voting booth .,
Are you talking about voter ID laws?
Talking about multiple polling sites with ample voting machines and no lines in repub districts and few and far between polling sites with few voting machines in predominantly minority dem districts, in red states. Oklahoma City, I think it was, tried to move or did move the polling location outside of the range of public transportation, so afraid of the Hispanic vote were they.
    Voter suppression
Oh okay. This I agree with. I was hoping you weren't talking about voter ID laws because I don't think they're nearly as suppressing as the instances that Halifax referenced.
