1999 roll call vote from the Clinton impeachment to subpoena witnesses and submit new evidence. Look at the 44 Democrats who threatened the underpinnings of our democracy!

They should definitely be calling witnesses, but just remember this is an age old partisan stunt the next time you light your hair on fire over concern for The Republic.

i love that you are downplaying the fact that trump has committed actual crimes, and has lied repeatedly about them to cover them up, has withheld evidence, demanded people to defy subpoenas and not testify. this is completely different than the clinton impeachment. so please do not compare apples to oranges.
Trump is guilty of all of that and should be removed from office. Clinton sexually assaulted an intern and lied about it under oath. There's plenty of room to acknowledge they're both pieces of shit.
She didn't consent? That's news to me.
Executive/intern dynamic. Has the tide swung back around on that in 2020?
    That's not criminal sexual assault.
He wasn't charged with a statutory crime. I thought we all finally came to a consensus on the trouble with consent in this scenario last year.

How do you blame the senators and Clinton for something in 98 that we decided in the last few years was really bad? Ex post facto

    Well it's 2 separate things:

For the senators, I'm pointing out the hypocrisy of getting red-assed over what the Republicans are doing this time around as being a uniquely Republican thing. I think it sucks in either case.

With Clinton, he has a documented history of being a sexual predator. If this were an isolated incident, you could chalk it up as an affair. As it stands, his record on this shit should not play in any era. We just have a way of turning a blind eye, especially in a case where it's politically inconvenient. See also: Ted Kennedy.

Hey guess what? It’s 2020 and this is the Team Trump Treason impeachment. Clinton isn’t on trial and neither is Biden. You want Team Trump Treason to beat the rap? Advocate for witnesses and documents and prove to the American people that it was a “perfect” call.

interesting. monica says she was a willing party and willingly  owns her part of that.

inappropriate conduct with a subordinate absolutely, but if the so called victim in this case doesnt feel she was a victim or victimized in this "relationship" how is it sexual assault?

now the character assassination after the fact I think was far more harmful to her as she had the whole country in ridicule bully mode.

look for her ted talks and I think it was vanity fair in 16.

The woman who was sexually assaulted back in the 90's by then private citizen Donald J. Trump in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room?

    She's looking for his DNA.

I’ll say it with great respect,” he said in an interview with The Hill, a Capitol Hill news organization. “No. 1, she’s not my type. No. 2, it never happened. It never happened, O.K.?

Sexually assaulted may be too far. Sexually preyed upon? Sexually harrassed?

Preyed upon, sure.  Although there are plenty of examples in history of young girls being attracted to men in power.  But I took issue with your statement of "assault", which I believe is only used criminally, although I may be wrong about that.

Yeah, I don't know if it has a strict connotation. Either way, I think expecting high ranking public officials to not have sex with staffers and interns is a more than reasonable standard. Especially the President. Hell, it just got Katie Hill bounced.

Yeah, I don't know if it has a strict connotation. Either way, I think expecting high ranking public officials to not have sex with staffers and interns is a more than reasonable standard. Especially the President. Hell, it just got Katie Hill bounced.
I think expecting the highest ranking official not to extort, bribe and shake down officials of other nations so that they’ll do your dirty work for you in violation of US law is way more than a reasonable standard.

Clinton analogous to if I were to have sex with a college-age intern at work.  It’s not illegal.  But it’s inappropriate and I would deservedly be fired.

Agreed.  However, would you have been fired in 1997 for that?  Maybe, maybe not?

I hope I would have...and I thought Clinton should have been removed...even though he wasn’t threatening the very existence of the Republic like a certain prospective despot is.

But it was the impetus for the whole impeachment inquiry, so clearly it touched off concern. Granted he was ultimately impeached for lying under oath, but that's what led us there.

Was it Whitewater? I need to go back and look at that whole timeline, I guess.

There's plenty of room to acknowledge they're both pieces of shit.
interesting. monica says she was a willing party and willingly  owns her part of that.

inappropriate conduct with a subordinate absolutely, but if the so called victim in this case doesnt feel she was a victim or victimized in this "relationship" how is it sexual assault?

now the character assassination after the fact I think was far more harmful to her as she had the whole country in ridicule bully mode.

look for her ted talks and I think it was vanity fair in 16.
Yeah, well we also have students of HS teachers who say they consented and them later marry each other, but that doesn't make it right either. I can't believe how many are ok with it as long as Monica isn't saying she was forced. His position mattered in the scenario. She wasn't going to blow the other interns, but if she did, big deal. Position of authority.
    It's a hopeless situation...

Probably not, because when you're the president of your company or the USA, whose going to fire you? It's beyond sleazy, but we all know the rich and powerful often don't play by the same rules.

didnt say I was ok with it. But for this specific case her willing conduct should also be considered here... thats all.

I don't get why people are trying to argue the vote on witnesses for Clinton isn't the same thing as what's happening now. It was a dem president so they voted against it and now it's a repub president so Repubs will vote against. Not hard to see the parallel. Trump is just a larger pile of shit who has done much more than Clinton, but they both should be held accountable. It's just all out hypocrisy. They should all just be voted out. Pocket lined fuckers.
    It's a hopeless situation...

The House should immediately issue subpoenas to all the players involved and immediately fast track it via the courts to the Supreme Court. Lets see how much of a partisan hack Roberts really is. In addition, all of those repub house and senate members involved in the cover up should be non-violently confronted, verbally heckled, ridiculed and refused service everywhere they go in public for being traitors to the Constitution. They, and those who are cheering this on, will rue the day. Cue BS spiking the football when they vote to acquit.
