What do the Dems think is going to happen from all this except that what they tried to do ultimately failed?

I seriously don't understand what was trying to be accomplished if the Senate wasn't going to oust him in the first place.
Seriously? Come on man. A permanent stain on his record is an enormous thing in annalls of history.

Is it their fault the republicans are feckless cowards? You think because they are likely not to convict, they should say, aw, fuck it...go ahead and invite foreign countries to meddle in next year's elections with zero consequences! No, of course not. They did exactly what they had to do. They cannot control the senate.

Impeaching a president is not "ultimately failing". It is permanent and it is forever and it was the right thing to do. I think it's even more powerful a statement because it was not the most politically expedient move for them to make.

Now lets see if there can be a fair trial or not.
Adolph Hitler has a permanent stain in the annals of history, but he's still got to carry out his master plan.

Germany was torn apart for decades.

    Past is prologue...?
    We'll find out in November.

I bet he goes for a second and third impeachment. "Best, most impeached president ever."

I am pretty sure we see him laughingly referencing this sometime in the coming days.
What a fucking joke this guy is.  Anyone who likes him just baffles me.  (As a person...if you like him as a person you are absolutely baffling to me.  Has there been a more unlikable public figure recently?)
Everyone forgets that he was a likable guy at one point.  He was in movies for years, did spots on Stern for years, had a tv show.  People actually liked him, hell I liked him.

It's only recently that he became president and the dirt starts to come out that makes you see the other side of a person and not like him.  I would say that a lot of people don't care about that side of him and still support him.

This is so incredibly shortsighted that I don't have the time to respond fully.

He was a D list celebrity who was in Home Alone for 5 seconds 30 years ago. As a D list celebrity nobody really bothered to look at his racist and corrupt record that dates back to the 1970's. Fuck, my wife and I liked him on the Apprentice for years. Always thought it was funny that a guy who bankrupted a casino four times was being hailed as a titan of business. But it was a stupid mindless tv show. Who really gave a shit at the time?

It was not until his racist birther-ism nonsense that people started taking a closer look at him and realizing what kind of person he was. This, mind you, was YEARS before he became president.

    Sheesh.

So you think what Trump did with Ukraine is either acceptable or standard presidential behavior?
What I think is that this will get shot down in the Senate.
So because of that looming scenario you believe this should of never been done? In other words let him do what ever he wants since he is the president..
I would say that what he did goes on everyday in politics.  The Dems are so hellbent at ousting him that they found their shot and took it and will fail miserably.

I tell you I am about fed up w politics and the lack of bipartisanship and please don't tell me it's all the rep fault.  That is what IS wrong w politics.
It literally does not. Did you suffer a stroke? That's why hardly any republicans are agreeing with him that it was a "perfect call."

You think it's common for presidents to call upon foreign leaders and essentially ask them to interfere in our election for their own personal benefit? And then hold up much needed aid until they do? And then block a lawfully investigation into such an act?

Ladies and gentlemen....welcome to the twilight zone.

    What the fuck.

I was for the impeachment.  I’m glad they stood up for something instead of just ignoring the issues because the Republicans wouldn’t do anything in the Senate.

That said, this impeachment means nothing.  I can’t imagine it sways public opinion in any meaningful way.  We pretend that we are in an era where political norms apply and impeachment is a big deal.  We are not in that era anymore.  That is not a good thing.  This impeachment is essentially the equivalent of a censure.   Has no teeth.  Trump went on stage and told some widow her husband was looking up at her from hell.  Status quo continues.

I don't forget that...I was one of the people who liked (laughing at) him.

Also agree about the people who support what the impact to their wallet is of him being president.
My comment was more about people who like him, think he is a good dude, at this point.

According to the 2016 election results, Hillary Clinton might fit the bill.

Yeah, I guess I can see that.
Wonder about now?  I am not a fan of Hillary, but in a "who is a better person match" she beats him like a drum.

What this continues to confirm is that written word means very little when there is no actual physical outcome. At the end of the day, this asshole has the same amount of power and control as he did at 800am yesterday. As he continues to realize nothing changes and support doesn't tank, he won't change. The only solution is voting him out. I may be pessimistic as hell and given up on the human race, but I am not quite at rock bottom like some of you on here talking about 30 more years of Trumps. There will be a civil war before that ever fucking happens; guaranteed.
    It's a hopeless situation...

I took my Bernie sign out of the window last nite outta respect for the office.

It's back this morning.  executive privilege?  TESTIFY.

If only they had simple crime or misdemeanor (other than being a stone cold fascist dictator) they could pin on this divisive fucker.  good thing they have a few weeks over XMAS.

Or...we'll be left chants of TSA TSA TSA or DSA DSA DSA echoing through history and the THUGGERY and intimidation will continue.

    Impeach Remove Pardon

Is Mike Pence really that bad?

    1. Trump didn't care if he was investigated, he cared that it was announced on cable news that he was going to be investigated.
    2. We have laws on the books that provide a method for the DOJ to investigate the actions of US nationals in overseas dealings.  This is the proper and lawful method to handle such situation.
    3. The administration was withholding congressionally appropriated aid until the announcement took place.  This aid was critical for the Ukrainian gov't to defend itself in an actual hot war.

I feel like you really didn't pay attention to this whole deal.

  • I think we may have impeachment proceedings for every president from here on out. If for nothing else, the sport of it. Even though it’ll lead to nothing, to successfully impeach the president will be a feather in the cap of these Dems. So the Republicans will surely try to impeach the next Democrat president whether it’s justified or not.

No shit, and this isn't even coming from a devout Trump supporter, who you expect to be this ignorant.
Again I'll ask because apparently I am "ignorant"...

No where do yo mention that Trump wanted other countries to interfere with an election.

That is what I am missing and you did too, but I'm ignorant?

    Come now...

No I don't support Trump but the reach here is just that.  Reaching.

I'm still waiting for someone to show me the evidence of where Trump asked for the election interference?

You don't understand how asking a foreign gov't to launch a sham investigation into his most likely 2020 rival, and demanding it be done on television, while tying it to aid isn't attempting to interfere and corrupt the election? You don't see how he is using the power of the presidency to give himself an unfair advantage and leveraging OUR tax dollars to do it?

Thank you Nancy and Dems and the one Independent with the courage to do the right thing. I'd like to keep our Democracy and get rid of the corruption we currently have, no matter who's doing it. I believe we'll be rewarded if we just keep doing the right thing. Get Russia out of my government and all the supporters of using them to "win"...they aren't winners at all. I've seen some honor in the Legislative Branch of my government lately and one day, it'll be in the Executive Branch again. My fingers are crossed for the Judicial Branch...3 co-egual branches of government. I hope everyone makes sure their voting rights are secure...check your records to be sure you aren't purged before November. There are going to be a LOT of shenanigans in 2020.
:::clink::: I'm cheering you all. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas. etc. :)

My thought is that Nancy will stall until she is confident she can flip one GOP senator to vote for impeachment in the Senate so the democrats can use the word “bipartisan” when describing the impeachment, much like the GOP is doing today with the congressional vote for impeachment.

If she can’t feel confident getting one or two to flip then this will likely never move on.

    Sheesh.

Now lets see if there can be a fair trial or not.
and the fact his fragile fucking ego cant stand it.......

THAT alone makes it worth it.

He withheld aid from a country and had his personal lawyer leverage that aid in exchange for opening an investigation on what looks to be his primary political rival in 2020. It was a targeted action against Biden and he was circumventing official channels.

I'd be more sympathetic to the "fighting corruption" argument if anyone could give examples of this that don't include his political opponents specifically.
