Dear Colleague to All Members on Whistleblower Complaint
SEPTEMBER 22, 2019
PRESS RELEASE
Dear Colleague,
On Thursday, Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire will appear before the House Intelligence Committee in an open hearing. At that time, we expect him to obey the law and turn over the whistleblower’s full complaint to the Committee. We also expect that he will establish a path for the whistleblower to speak directly to the House and Senate Intelligence Committees as required by law.
The Intelligence Community Inspector General, who was appointed by President Trump, has determined that the complaint is both of “urgent concern and credible,” and its disclosure “relates to one of the most significant and important of the Director of National Intelligence’s responsibilities to the American people.”
The Administration’s blocking of Acting DNI Maguire from providing Congress with the whistleblower complaint calls upon him to violate the federal statute, which unequivocally states that the DNI “shall” provide Congress this information. The Administration is endangering our national security and having a chilling effect on any future whistleblower who sees wrongdoing.
We must be sure that the President and his Administration are always conducting our national security and foreign policy in the best interest of the American people, not the President’s personal or political interest.
I am calling on Republicans to join us in insisting that the Acting DNI obey the law as we seek the truth to protect the American people and our Constitution.
This violation is about our national security. The Inspector General determined that the matter is “urgent” and therefore we face an emergency that must be addressed immediately.
If the Administration persists in blocking this whistleblower from disclosing to Congress a serious possible breach of constitutional duties by the President, they will be entering a grave new chapter of lawlessness which will take us into a whole new stage of investigation.
And then they can horse trade and give cover to those house members in Team Trump Treason heavy districts. Scareamooch might be right, resignation in March 2020.
I look forward to the repub spin machine working overtime to defend Team Trump Treason. Moscow Mitchy Baby and Lindsey Disgusting Graham, I'm looking at you.
“I believe that President Trump is going to blow you away with his willingness to disclose and be transparent about this phone call, because I think he did nothing wrong and he has nothing to hide,” Graham told conservative talk radio host Hugh Hewitt during an interview Monday. “Get ready for some disclosures from the president that I think will exceed every expectation,” he added. “I can’t promise you this will happen, but I think the president will clear the air when it comes to the whistle-blower allegation.”
Time to do it! And I hope Mike Pence takes a hike as well. But, aye, there's the rub, eh?
Yeah, I don't relish a Pence presidency, but if it came to that, the silver lining is that he has no actual support and isn't electable nationally. So he'd be a lame duck president from the get go, wouldn't get anything through a Democrat controlled House, and isn't going to be the GOP nominee for the 2020 election. So we'd endure him for a few months before he is sent out to pasture. He is one weird and creepy guy.

Trump ain’t gonna be removed from office. Republicans are already in line. Pence will remain vp.

i don't think so either. but depending how the trial goes, if it comes to that, could be incredibly damaging. if impeachment is brought by the house, does the senate have an obligation to have a trial, or can they just hold a bogus vote and squash it, like turtle said?
what if pence is found to be complicit during the investigation?
They won’t impeach him. Senate Republicans won’t convict trump anyway. Impeachment gets more info out to the public and puts trump’s obstruction on display. Upside is republicans go on record as supporting it and saying they don’t give a shit just before the election.
The thought of an impeached Trump not removed from office kinda scares me.

Good points, all.

No R in the Senate was going to vote Nixon out of office either, until after the hearings and knowing how bad everything was and how unpopular he became. It was political suicide for Rs not to vote him out.
The thought of an impeached Trump not removed from office kinda scares me.
Hopefully that would at least keep him from being re-elected in 2020.
You would think.

Republican backed Senate won't pass it through. Isn't that how it works? They would have to vote to impeach him?
No matter how much dust and dirt the democrats try and kick up Trump will still be President.
I seriously hope they have real intel on him and not just trying to knock down his credibility.
Thanks for the morning laugh.
