I still think impeachment, politically speaking, isn't in the best interest of the Dems. We know he won't be convicted in the Senate. And I personally don't think it would hurt him in the 2020 election because I think the undecided voters will look at it as just more bureaucratic attempts to get rid of him (Mueller report -> Mueller testimony -> Impeachment). I know a lot of you guys are of the belief "So what if he's not convicted? He should be impeached so impeach him." Hey, have it your way. It'll certainly be an entertaining shit show.
I understand that the Senate would acquit him, but that is how things have historically happened. Only 2 previous presidents have been impeached by the House - Andrew Jackson & Bill Clinton. In both cases, they were acquitted by the Senate. Nixon's impeachment was still in the investigation stage when he resigned. I would be fine with whatever the outcome is (Senate acquittal as expected, resignation prior to vote, or a miraculous Senate conviction and removal). But I want all of the congresscritters on record. In the face of overwhelming evidence of misconduct those who vote against are complicit and that vote should be used against them in any future campaigns.
It would not only be a permanent stain on Trump's record but on every republican who votes to acquit. I agree with you.
but would it really? he'd manage to turn it into some badge of honour that he was once again able to thwart and defeat the angry democrats at every turn.
Yes. History is not kind to people like Donald Trump and his enablers.

Strategically (which should be secondary, anyway) this is how I feel. We can assume they'll vote to acquit, and in so doing, give them plausible deniability if we ever do get to the point (like with Nixon) that the majority "gets it." What I want to see happen is I want to MAKE them vote to acquit. If they're going to continue to back this guy, I want them to make it as official as it gets. Even if it doesn't pay off until Donald Trump, Jr. is being impeached and they have to remember how bad their vote looks in hindsight.

Majority of house dems now support impeachment. Say it ain’t so! Add to it the house judiciary agreeing with the justice Department to a court schedule for filings around the grand jury testimony redactions and witnesses access, and you have the beginnings of an end. Next summer in Charlotte will be hot, hot, hot!
More fruit from the poisonous tree. Or is it brilliant, brilliance in all its brilliancy? Can’t wait for CYA Barr’s FISA application findings. Or is it losses?
I was. But the numbers are probably actually higher. This just accounts for the DOJ website, where you could download the non-searchable copy. I downloaded the DOJ copy, found that it couldn't be searched, and looking elsewhere (a news/media site but can't remember which) where the PDF was searchable. So I'm sure the DOJ number is just a fraction of the total. Instant best-seller!

More fruit from the poisonous tree or is it brilliant brilliance in all its brilliancy? Can’t wait for another spiked football. Hillary and Obama been indicted yet?
A House panel is set to lay down the rules for the impeachment investigation. Who gets interviewed by committee attorneys, how grand jury testimony and classified information will be handled, avenues of investigation, how the president will be questioned and under what terms, etc. Panel to act on Wednesday. Game on folks. “You don’t ‘sell’ a war in August.”
Because, you know, say it with me, move your lips as you recite it:
“There was no collusion.”
“I have nothing to hide.”
“I don’t know any Russians.”
“I’ll sit down and talk with anyone.”
“We do everything by the book.”
“Only the guilty plea the fifth.”
“Very legal, very cool.”
“Fully exonerated.”
“Essentially no obstruction.”
Follow the money from Russia with love and a PTape all the way to impeachment.
We're all in agreement that he hasn't read a book from start to finish since high school...right? Perhaps if he cut down on the 4 hours of cable news he consumes every day, he could find more time to read his Andrew Jackson book.
If they do it, Mitch and the senate boys will vote against removal. That risks giving trump momentum right before the election. "Congress fully exonerated me." And the fact checkers will agree.
The best way to get him out is to vote him out. But for that to happen Democrats will need to learn the difference between energy and heat. Fast. And then deal with whatever nonsense the progressives come up with next.

The senate is just a few candidates from flipping and is in play. Expect the dem candidates to press the issue of whether their opponent supports Team Trump Treason and all of his atrocious behavior. Senate seats are statewide contests and the pressure will be on once more of Team Trump Treason's dirty laundry is aired in televised hearings and subsequent news cycles. They won't be one offs, they'll be a collective of piles of shit that they'll have to defend. The base won't budge but those Reagan dems and indies may very well tip the balance. Its going to be a hot summer. If the senate trial is held before the election, expect a lot of pressure on repubs to "do the right thing." If its not and Team Trump Treason gets re-elected, the senate may have flipped, ensuring his conviction, or at least making it more likely and he'll still suffer the brand of having been impeached. Something that never happened to Obama. The Congress has a constitutional duty to be the check on executive abuse of power. Then again, the impeachment inquiry may result in the dem house doing nothing. But that would be a huge mistake in light of what we already know about everything. Its the stuff we don't know that needs to come out (tax returns, what was said to putin on the ritz in those two private meetings, etc.). October surprises and connecting dots. We're still connecting dots, boys and girls.
As bad as Trump is and oh god is he bad. If he gets impeached we get Pense. Trump is the rattlesnake . All show and venom. Pense is sneaky and quiet like a black mamba. He’s as evil as Trump. Just hides behind Jesus. Vote out the whole administration in 2020

I'm so eager to vote, too.
Have a great week, all.

Oh oh I see. The C is silent.
“Collusion” is not a crime but conspiracy to accept foreign assistance to throw an election is. Oops.
