Well he definitely will benefit monetarily from this since he has the power to influence and determine what type of relationships we form with other world and martial powers.
    It's a hopeless situation...

The Treasury Department's financial crimes unit, as part and parcel of an FBI, CIA and NSA ongoing investigation into Russian hacking and ties to the Trump Campaign. Manafort might just be the the caged bird that sings, "I'm free at last, I'm free at last, thank god almighty I'm free at last."

Yep, that's the Trump defense for everything now. "Look, look, see, look, A-ha! Obama did it, too!" Then hide behind the guise of "we're just trying to point out hypocrisy." Speaking of playing that game...

Obama executive orders: "What! What is he doing? Such an abuse of power! Get him outta there! Impeach! IMPEACH!"
Trump executive orders: "Finally, someone is getting shit done!"
While the differences between the two are glaring. One did it responsibly and with care to minimize negative effects on people (and mostly for positive gain for people), while the other does it completely irresponsibly and recklessly in a way that directly harms many people. Apples and oranges. It's absurd that people try to compare the two in any way, honestly. I haven't seen a single instance where the comparison between Obama and Trump is valid.

Right.... confirms that they're not comparable. Nobody ever said that Obama never deported anyone. What Obama did is nothing like what Trump is now doing, nor is how he did it. Though I'm not sure if that is the point you are trying to make... I actually don't know what point you are trying to make at all. Can you be more explicit, if you do indeed have a point? I actually thought we were talking about executive orders, and then you post this video about deportations during Obama's term. Maybe you're trying to show us how Obama was far more responsible about immigration/deportations than Trump is being?
Sorry, didn't realize you were speaking specifically about executive orders. I was thinking about comparisons on a more broad level...such as deporting illegal immigrants.
I don't think most people had or have a real problem with legal, relatively well-handled deportations of illegal immigrants (although I do remember a few stories where some people kind of fit into these brutal cracks in the system. FWIW, I didn't always like what the Obama administration did when it came to illegal immigrants, mostly when it came to their children). What people have a problem with is barring legal immigration and refugees based on their religion, turning down desperate victims of war and suppression, racism, halting visas that were already approved, preventing employees of American companies from being able to do their jobs and students from being able to continue their studies, etc etc etc. If you are looking at what Trump is doing and comparing it to deportations that happened to illegal immigrants during Obama's presidency, I don't know if you actually understand the issue at all..... You are talking about a completely different issue. We don't even know how Trump is going to actually deal with illegal immigrants in America yet.... Judging from what's happened since Jan 20th, it's probably going to be pretty horrible, whatever the plan ends up being.

While I agree it was super abrupt and disheartening to see it all go down, there's obvious reasons why the temporary ban needed to happen. No one wants to fuck with perfectly legit citizens, but something needed to be done. The 459 Islamic terrorist acts worldwide since 1979 should prove to any doubter beyond a reasonable doubt that there's one major threat worldwide these days. (Of course the argument that we the U.S. may fall into the aggressor category as well is fair game).

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Islamist_terrorist_attacks

I don't think there are any obvious reasons why it had to happen the way it did (and some reasons why it didn't need to happen at all, the way it is). As you said, the abruptness of it is exactly what has caused terrible things for many people. There are people who were in the air on legal visas when this dropped. They had literally spent YEARS and lots of money to make it finally happen, quite their jobs, left their lives, sold their homes, etc.... and then they were turned away. It's an absolute tragedy. Even if they manage to work things out, the cost and stress of all this could be devastating. Jobs have been lost. Careers have been halted and even ruined in some cases. Studies and research has been compromised. How it was done is EVERYTHING right now. If it had been done in a way that is anything close to sane, those who were already in the process of immigrating could have been allowed to finish the process, students and workers could have been excluded, etc etc. There is NO excuse for what Trump has done here, especially considering how totally nonsensical it is, in that no terror attack has ever been linked to any of those countries, and the ones that do have links aren't barred... and Trump has business interests in those countries, so no wonder he didn't add them to the list. It's fucking outrageous. If it had been done with care and attention, with consideration for all the varying situations people are in, and if it made more sense, then okay, nobody would be protesting in the streets or having their life ruined over it. But that isn't the case, since Trump is an idiot and a crazy person, and doesn't give a shit about how this has gone down, obviously. All he cares about is himself and his image. And he doesn't even know how to take care of his image.

I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but I've got to ask for sources on careers being halted and jobs lost, as well as how none of the banned countries have ever been linked to any terrorist attack. Is that so? I really don't know. I would assume that the information that our executive has is more than cnn and Google can provide us, so as always you have to give the pres the leeway in decisions that they make. don't know what way this hiatus on immigration could have been implemented without disrupting at least some families and individuals, but you seem to. You take issue with how it was done, and I totally agree that in a perfect world no one would be affected, but how else could it have been implemented better? I'd say in the grand scheme of things, if 109 people were fucked (unfortunately so), that's pretty damn good for the initiation of something as serious as this was. 109 is great actually, wouldn't you say? Also, when you say that nobody would be protesting in the streets had this all made more sense, you're reaching a bit. We've seen protests and riots these last two years over things completely mistaken to be something they weren't. Many interviews I watched these last few days show people angry about something that has nothing at all to do with the protest they're marching in. It's become vogue to protest and post your sign on Facebook. Just the next extension of the ME ME ME world we live in now. Here would have been protests no doubt even if this had been 100% smoothly inacted.

Anyway I think it's easy to get caught up in it all, but we know this was the right thing to do, maybe not the smoothest way to do it though. If Obama had done the same exact thing I just don't see the same thing happening with the public. Sure, Congress and Fox News and all those sites would have flipped, but they don't protest, march, loot, burn people's cars and stuff- that's the youth and the left from what I've seen. It would be on the news that night and the next few days, but people would have just shrugged and figured he was making a smart decision for our safety.
I'm like an opening band for your mom.

Even Bush didn't pull this kind of shit after 9/11.

Many people are going to die unnecessarily during his term.

would no longer target groups such as white supremacists who have also carried out bombings and shootings in the United States.

Wouldn't want to target the base.

I'd agree with you last week. Bannon surpassed him.

How about that Frederick Douglass gaffe? Oh and Trump so dumb he believes Michael DOUGLAS was a real president and that the Rob Reiner movie was a documentary!

I like how every time they put out a statement about some policy or stance, they make sure to either include that Obama did the same thing or criticize as doing nothing. He cannot get past his feelings of inadequacy.
What's also interesting is that trump supporters do the exact thing (see amt for references).

Apples and oranges and multiple perspectives.
    https://youtu.be/qw6tjBxvIPo
Right.... confirms that they're not comparable.

I disagree that anything different needed to be done. The actual risk is very small and there's many more people dying each day in the country from other things. We just minimize those events. I always recommend that people's fear level be relative to the actual risk. People's fear of terrorism is an example of something incongruent with the risk.
