I see a bunch of overpriced things that aren't moving.

See a bunch of 2016 things not moving. I guess we've got everything?!? lol

The sticker trading/selling for older things is non existent.

Thoughts?

Lost Dogs is like a ghost town. Is everybody on FB now?

People are getting better deals listed for "market value" elsewhere...

Should we have a yard sale? :) All the regulars put up extra stuff at the price discount there used to be on here?

I don't think there's much foot traffic on the forums

I had some very reasonably priced posters for sale on here, listed for over 2 weeks without a single bite

I posted them on the Facebook group, all were sold in 10 minutes (literally 10 minutes)

Most people who aren't everyday regulars really have no reason to visit the forums right now. No tour going on, and not even smallest info leak or hint of any upcoming tour. There's just no reason for a lot of people to be on the forums lately.

Agreed traffic is slow here. Though I've found that even with ISO items I've had better luck finding things I want on FB. I was looking for a reasonably priced Greenville poster and the best offer I had here was around $70 after multiple bumps (a few days) on my thread. I posted in the FB group and had a new Greenville poster in about 10 min for $35 plus shipping. <<shrug>>

    This.

I also think the majority of things listed on LD are over priced nowadays.

Yeah, agree, as for me I'm only after a few items that hardly ever come up, and don't really have anything to sell. But I refuse to join facebook, so there's that...
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

  • What FB groups are u all on?

I'm on a few but I do prefer the usual honesty on here. I just got burned in a fb trade. Called him out and NOTHING.

It's the price police, and fear of being labelled a "flipper" which has slowly eroded people wanting to sell here over time.

I've seen a lot of threads disintegrate into name calling and bickering over prices or intentions, if you had that happen to you, why would you bother trying to sell here?

Furthermore, if you're considering selling and witnessed it why would you bother either?

Hell, a lot of groups on FB have been created to get away from it.

As Chris mentioned originally, if you don't price well, things don't sell, so biting tongues and letting sellers figure it out on their own would have probably helped.

I'm guilty too. If the price seems obtuse I try and message the person first though.

Price police is good though. Keeps people honest. There are quite a few asshats on the fb pages that I'd rather not deal with.

I really think you got this right. I am trading, buying and selling on the FB groups more and more for this exact reason, which is a shame, as I really enjoyed coming here for many years.

Anyone who knows me knows I buy and sell all the time. I have spend A LOT more than I have made here. I generally post expressobeans direct links on all of my posts when selling (as many others do as well) to be as transparent as possible so the buyer knows what the prices of posters have been going for. Sometimes I paid too much, and therefore ask a higher than average, which is my right. Other times, I've given stuff away, traded things to others that I didn't really want to get rid of because it has sentimental value to the other person, or sold things at a loss, which is also my right.

But when the threads are literally hijacked by snarky, passive aggressive comments from individuals that aren't interested in buying, but only interested in disrupting the selling, that is a problem. I would say 95% of the people here are die-hard fans, and if your in Lost Dogs, I think its fair to assume you know what is a fair price for an item. I don't think one can find a more knowledgeable bunch of Pearl Jam collectors anywhere. Therefore, there is no need for criticism or commentary. There is a civility protocol here and I think that includes trying to disrupt a sale. I've seen plenty of things listed for sale here for prices that I wouldn't even touch. But its none of my business. If someone wants to sell THEIR PROPERTY, and some else is searching for that item and is willing to pay for it, then that is fine. I've overpaid in the past for things I really wanted. So what? If someone is so "offended" at a price that they feel compelled to say something, PM the OP.

I think we are a generous bunch here. When there is an opportunity to do good, more often than not we do it. We are collectors, we have collections, we aren't flippers. We don't make money here. I have a job, that's how I make money.

That is the end of my rant (for now). I genuinely hope things change around here sooner than later.

Yep exactly. Place has turned into Ebay. People just trying to avoid ebay fees. Putting up stupid prices then saying " oh i said obo" . Just trying to get around the no auction rule.

That's another piece, when ppl finally do decide to sell their collection they don't want to let it go for nothing since it meant so much.

Will agree the price police are ridiculous on here, they will say when the price is too high right away, but never anything when it's too low. Maybe a "great price!" if they didn't already buy it.

Calling out an auction by suggesting/telling an OP to post a price is one thing. Jumping in and commenting on 90% of the threads and criticizing OPs trying to sell things with a set price is another.

Ok, even assuming it has turned into ebay (which I disagree with anyways), then do you believe it is proper to comment on those threads? I'm not calling you out or trying to start an argument, I'd really like to hear your perspective.

Yeah, like others say, there is a stigma that this is the Pearl Jam official website, and you had the warnings about not flipping so there are always debates about what is flipping and then people get mad or shamed. I don't think anyone truly cares about flipping anymore (they may care about pricing being too high), but the traffic has dwindled.

I am not on Facebook so my only other option is Ebay. I take stuff over there when I think my price will create a lot of back and forth discussion on here. Sorry, I stood in line for these stickers, I'll sell them for what I want to! Ha.

No, but there was just a thread last week I think about how people are asking for EBay prices and that true fans should want to help each other out and not care about the money.

People read that and don't to deal with the headache. To me, if you wanted to buy that Santiago sticker for $2 than you should have paid the airfare and concert ticket cost and bought it in person. $20 is a bargain instead.
