I'm at saturation point. I still buy new stuff at the shows I go to, and new vinyl as it comes out. My backlog of stuff I want has gotten pretty small. My Holy Grail is currently Give Way (which is hard to find at a decent price). I've been scouring ebay for a copy of 7/2/2003 mansfield so I can have all the 3 shows from the experiment. Not much else really... I spend the most money at shows now, because it's a bunch of merch I don't have (which probably explains the insanely crazy merch lineups at pj shows). Even then all I want is the poster from the show I went to and a tshirt (and well I couldn't resist the wrigley baseball cards and flag ).
The prices people want/expect to get for their items is too high/out of control/laughable. Some people share my opinion, while many others do not and that's fine. Making a profit off someone else's artwork - music and posters - is bad form in my opinion. I'll stick to the traders' thread(s) Have a good week everyone.
I would also second the people saying its become too policed here. Why would you list something for sale just to have a certain few members jump all over it calling you a flipper etc, when you can just go on the Facebook group, have thousands of more eyes see the item, and not have to worry about any of it.
If an item is overpriced, dont buy it. No one is making you buy it. No need to sabotage peoples sale posts just because youre mad they're making a few bucks off of it. Totally kills the desire to want to buy/sell/trade on Lost Dogs.
Tickets being sold here should remain Face Value only, and it should always stay that way. But in terms of merch, who cares, let people make a few bucks, especially considering it takes 2-3 hours in a line to get many of the items nowadays.

Hey people can ask whatever they want and other people can tell them their prices are stupid whenever they want. People are just posting stupid prices to start auctions with the best offer . How many items with stupid prices actually sell at those prices? They just sell to the highest "best offer"

If you acknowledge that people can ask whatever they want, then doesn't that mean a person should not call the price "stupid"? What is the point of calling the price "stupid"?
Sure people have the right to tell people prices are stupid, but all thats going to do is push even more people away from Lost Dogs. After seeing how quickly my items sold on facebook the other day, I would honestly be dumb to even try to sell things here at this point. On Facebook, I can sell, have an auction, have a raffle, do whatever I want and not hear a peep about it.
So yes, you are right, people do have the right to say a price is stupid, but if were on the topic of why the Lost Dogs forum is slow, I dont think you can ignore that calling peoples prices out will push them away when there are so many other outlets to sell things on.

Yes, of course, there is free speech. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and can state it here. But what is the POINT of calling a price stupid? What does it achieve? It achieves absolutely nothing.

Certainly what i'm about to say here won't be popular with most people...
The often unspoken issue here--as I see it--is that many people expect "best friend" deals on stuff. From time to time, you'll hear about how things should be less here because we're all fans and such--and that we're avoiding the ebay seller fees (personally never sold a thing on ebay in 17 years of using it). The truth is that 99% of the time, people only want things that are desirable. Things that are desirable are valuable. Just as much as scalping inflates the price of things in unnatural ways, cutting major deals does the same to devalue items.
I can understand why people would pick any number of other outlets to sell/trade items.

My only pet peeve is when people don't post a price. Other than that I think people should be free to ask whatever they want for an item. If they price it too high it won't sell and if they price it right it will. The market will take care of that. We don't need people chiming into every thread about eBay and how things used to be. It's not productive and serves no purpose.

I understand what you mean, my point is a few years ago you never saw Ebay prices on here, im not saying sell things for there original cost but you dont ask for more than Ebay sales. Ebay charges 10% so people on here are already making 10% more than Ebay.

ebay sellers fees are a drop in the bucket unless its a huge sale, which many of the items for sale are not. I have never heard of anyone, at any time, ever say they sell their stuff here as opposed to ebay to avoid paying a fee.

Welp, there goes one more.
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?
And even regardless of pricing and policing and what not, think about it.
Things posted here are only seen by the people that are here often. If you post something on facebook, BOOM, right there in the face of 45,000 people who probably check facebook hourly. I dont think the power of facebook should be underestimated as an issue here.
Would be cool to see the band somehow integrate the forums into a Facebook group. Maybe create an official Pearl Jam Buy/Sell facebook group associated with the Band's official FB page, where auctions/sales/raffles of any kind were allowed, and the buyer and seller of each transaction each pay a 1% fee to the Vitalogy foundation.

Its pretty simple, pretty much everything priced reasonably sells easily on here.

Some of you do realize not everyone follows every eBay auction closing price or the final prices of all the LD threads right? I used to be more involved here, but my job has kept me off of here more and more. When I want to sell something, I try to find the best market value I can, but sometimes you just kind of guess and put a price out there. Sometimes you're high, sometimes you're spot on, etc. The Lost Dogs police thing keeps most people away I think, including me. I always see threads of people commenting about price, and while they might mean well, it just sounds whiny.

So it has nothing to do with people commenting on prices then.

I was disagreeing that just because something is priced reasonbly means it sells. Like I said, I think the biggest issue with sales themselves is the foot traffic and losing people to Facebook. Facebook is what prevents easy sales on Lost Dogs, but the policing is what drives the people to Facebook in the first place.

No, it does. There have been multiple posts from casual users who say specifically they do not sell here because of the fear of criticism. Also, not all "reasonably" priced items sell. I have tried to sell things in the past below cost and not one PM. I would say that desirability has a lot more to do with whether something is sold than price.
I had posters listed in lost dogs for over two weeks at reasonable prices. Not a single PM.
I posted the same posters and prices on Facebook at 1:18 PM. Check out the times and how quickly people responded. And this doesn't show the 10+ private messages I received on top of this.
