We just watch the 1993 move, "Dave" about a guy (Kevin Kline) who becomes a stand-in look alike president when the real president becomes incapacitated. Great movie, a lot of fun, and a very clear picture of the kind of character many of us would like to see in a president. That character as presented in this movie IS NOT what we will be seeing any time soon but the idea is there and ideas are fuel for real change for the better so if you like that kind of thing, this movie is for you!

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106673/

    I really like that movie.
The brand new show "Designated Survivor" with Kiefer Sutherland actually really reminds me of that movie. It's darker, but it's the same kind of deal - good man with morals (although he's already a politician) just unwittingly lands in the position of POTUS one day and goes from there.
    I always like Kiefer's work.

"Dave" presented what many would surely view as an over-simplified, overly idealistic view of what a president should be and do but being altruistic and caring does not seem so far fetched to me. Having those characteristics in a president would, as the movie suggests, lead to solving many of the problems we face.

I sometimes get the notion that the human race is dysfunctional to the point of being so accustomed to being screwed up that we don't want to get better. I had a friend like that who literally drank herself to death. I hope her life and death is not a metaphor for the human race but sometimes I wonder...

So I prefer this metaphor: DAVE FOR PRESIDENT!

Someone could probably claim this disorder so that they can fly on an airplane with an emotional support duck ....

If you still vote you should ask yourself what stage of grief you are currently in.

Well the Canadian response to this story is kind of funny and kind of embarrassing. Canadians have responded to this diagnosis of election stress disorder, supposedly suffered by over half of the American population, with concern for your well-being and sympathy for your predicament. So it seems we've decided to try and make you feel better in your time of need. I really hope this helps guys. :giggle:

I've met some Canadians at different times recently on their vacation and I always feel the need to apologize to them about Trump.

Lol, well, you shouldn't feel any responsibility, but yeah, I think Trump is causing a bit of stress in Canada. But I think people are more worried about Trump's supporters than Trump himself. All of these people are just a little close for comfort, you know? Plus, all of this disorder - this complete shit show that is the American government - I think makes people feel uncertain about the future. What happens in the US has a direct and well-felt impact on Canada, so I think it's safe to say that a lot of us are watching with troubled minds.

You should apologize for both candidates and the the fucking mess your country created in the Middle East.

I actually have apologized for Trump. It's embarrassing. One guy from Alberta tried to make me feel better by pointing out there's people similar to the typical Trump voter in Canada.

I recall seeing that movie a few times on tv, and always thinking "ok, so the basic message is this guy is incorruptible because he isn't a real politician?". Shit. I guess we're all fucked then. LOL
