I'm sure you're saying this tongue in cheek, but it did occur to me that he might not be saying anything because people will assume that whatever his take on it is will be what Hillary's take would be, or would force her to speak to the issue.... Sadly there's nothing new about this. Looking back at history, past and present, the "Great Father" always distanced themselves from Native issue, affairs and conflict. Sometimes the Great Father entertained Native Americans like when Sitting Bull thought the treaty of 1868 was valid and he accepted an invitation to the White House by Grant. The treat was broken of course and later on Sitting Bull was murdered by police.
Then there was Chief Joseph who by process of elimination (due to more dead Indians) became leader of a band of Nez Perce, and was chased around a big chunk of the country by the cavalry until he and his people became exhausted had their number thinned along the way and then were sent off on dismal train rides from one shitty reservation to another. After caught, Joseph somehow managed a meeting with President Hayes only to get sent back down the tracks in hellish conditions, finally to waste away in exile not all that far from his homeland which he so desperately wanted to see again.
And later in the 70's, dealing with the Red Power movement activities of groups like AIM were generally left to bureaucrats, military and police.
Same thing today. Nothings changed.

I am definitely willing to consider that cetaceans would come close enough to investigate. They are intelligent and social animals, and there are other reports of cetaceans socializing with humans and even "rescuing" them. I don't for a minute believe that they know the difference between the SSCS and a Russian ship. Why would they?

I have enormous respect for pretty much any animal in the natural world, but that respect means recognizing it as purely itself in its niche, and not anthropomorphizing it.

Fear enough, but that is obviously not what the faithful Natives believe, apparently. They trust in their connection with nature and animals, and their connection with buffalo and the symbolism of them is very real to them. From what I know, they quite likely think that they are connected enough so that the bison did appear for a reason, as symbolic protectors. The appearance of that herd seems to have been very meaningful to them.

OK, found it. Watson and crew went to Siberia in the Sea Shepherd II to document illegal whaling there. They were being chased by the Russian Navy who obviously wanted to do them great harm. And then... (from Watson book Ocean Warrior, pp81-82)...
