Jesus christ. The fucking stupidity of the shit that comes out of some people's mouths (or fingers).
I really can't take it anymore.

First, recognize that a person's reception (good or bad) to an idea is just math: for each component of an idea, in a person's mind it is judged by how closely it agrees with his or her own bias, how significant the component is to them, and how informed they believe themselves to be on the context-gathering. When summed subconsciously, this produces a binary 'goodness' of the idea.
Now apply that to the following:
1. There is a misunderstanding about what standing for the flag/anthem is for.
Standing for the flag/anthem can have numerous meanings, including a broad spectrum from genuinely good (love and gratitude towards country) to disingenuously bad (undue thought control to promote unpopular and potentially unethical militaristic actions). Simply put, if you think the cost to society of this behaviour outweighs the benefit to society, you will not partake in standing for the flag and anthem.
2. People fit into one of two categories - those who value small government, freedom, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; or people who value big government and a highly controlled life.
Big government and the pursuit of happiness aren't mutually exclusive, nor are small government and the possession of control, nor are the pursuit of happiness and anything whatsoever (for example, if the source of my happiness is my personal adherence to principles, my happiness can be pursued regardless of whether a government even exists).
3. The election outcome is a byproduct of the rejection of socialism.
Of all of the reasons that people vote, it is an egregious assumption to make that hundreds of millions of people are single-issue voters on this particular topic. If socialistic tendencies are the only differences you see between Barack Obama and Donald Trump, you need to look harder. There are significant policy differences that either don't involve socialistic tendencies from either Trump or Obama, or involve socialistic tendencies but also contain other differences (in which case you can't assume that the voters are voting based on the word socialism).

Was it the players, by kneeling or the league (and almost all leagues) by trotting this song out for every game in the first place? I'll go with the latter. If you're going to do that, then you have the choice of forcing patriotism or seeing people express themselves to the displeasure of snowflakes.
Nobody standing traditionally for the national anthem is standing in support of police brutality, or the mistreatment of any people.
Standing is to honor the military men and women, past & present. To honor and remember those who gave all, sacrificed everything, those who lost limbs and or were paralyzed fighting for this country. Their goal was to pass down a better place for their children and grandchildren. Is America perfect? No far from it. It's an experiment and a work in progress. But most people's dislike for the United States I believe is misguided.
Unfortunately I believe that the United States of America is irrevocably Divided.
I believe that there are two entirely different Americans/Americas existing today.
Those who value small government, Freedom, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happyness.
And those who cherish Big government, and want the government to control & provide in every aspect of Our Lives. Everything from small things to big things. From how much water your toilet can hold/flush, to limitless free stuff,, redistribution of wealth.
Those who love this country as founded, and those who despise this country.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -

You don't often do good ones. But that one up there is a good one.
I fear it will be ignored though. It seems as if once people have been convinced of something... they'll adhere to it like it was their lifeline.
Hell no and neither has Trump.
Not much grass to mow in New York City is there.
My work ethic is my lifeline. Not Donald f****** Trump.
I could've accepted govt assistance about 10 years ago, damn sure qualified for it, but I did not take it.
Through perseverance and hard work, I pulled myself up by my own bootstraps and got cracki'n.
Getting my wife legal citizenship here & into a nursing school & a nurse license took another round of perseverance. (Shithole countries refers to the way that they are governed. Has nothing to do with the citizenry or race. The reason people are fleeing those countries is because they're not that nice of a place to be. It is not a description of the citizenry.). Recently (in the wake of Donald Trump's headlines) my wife describes her own country as a s*******that's why she got out of there, and moved to the United States.
Eventually things started going our way & have been steadily getting better.
Yes I do know hard workers who needed government assistance to get by. Using government assistance as a as a supplement is one thing. Getting cozy on government assistance and doing whatever you can to game the system to stay on government assistance permanently is a different animal. That's where I have a problem with it using it permanently as opposed to using it and then getting on with your life. My battery is low so see you later.
