Yeah... This looks fucking amazing!  Always kind of wanted to go to the DR,  this might be the push!
We did the MMJ festival there and it was great!
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

Wife wants to go to the DR, but not the concerts… my brother will also be there as his wife’s nephew is getting married at that very same resort that very same weekend… if they end up selling concert tickets outside of the all inclusive packages…..

now that is some crazy coincidence!

It does… & Mastodon closing out the weekend seems odd. I’m pretty happy I passed on this… people in the crowd are going to be HAMMERED what with the all inclusive packages.

ngl, the opposite of FOMO is setting in for me... especially now that I scored for 2 PJ shows.

I feel the same way. If I had sucked it up on the cost I'd be a little deflated. And yeah strange that they're not doing nights 1 and 3.

Primus is only getting one hour... I'm surprised Mastodon is getting a billing over them, but what do I know?

for me it's a two pronged thing: I've only been on two hot vacations in my 50 years. so it's the festival AND the getaway.

I hear you, and no knock on anyone going or who  wants to go. I wanted to when it was first announced, and will be special shows (if for no other reason than the venue & crowd size. If I’m not mistaken it’s only about 4k capacity.)

I wonder if the drummer situation flipped that.

I don't know Mastodon. Maybe heard them once remember they reminded me of clutch a bit. Primus. Yes.

Maybe, but otoh, if Danny can be ready for a 60 minute set, I wouldn’t think another half hour would be a deal breaker. He toured with them ten or so years ago after Herb had heart surgery, so there’s some familiarity already there.

Yeah true. Personally I'm more of a Mastodon guy so I would have been on board with that decision.

But a typical festival usually has a lot more bands

Tool headline shows are 2 hours. I kinda figured that would be the floor. The lineup is great but it's expensive as shit.

Typical festival sets are great for typical festivals, but considering people are paying something around a $1400 premium for this, that schedule is pretty underwhelming. (I think I read somewhere that 3 nights / 4 days at the same resort would run about $1400 or $1500).
Tool could easily play a 2 hour set Friday and Sunday what with this being THEIR destination festival & all, but OTOH, it is Tool we’re talking about, so I can’t say I’m all that surprised.

i love tool. but this tool in the sand or whatever it is called is another blatant cash grab. i cant blame the band, playing a festival, you get paid alot, your working crew doesnt have to do much as infrastructure is ready to go, you basically show up and play, put your time in, change one maybe two songs the next night, fly out minutes after show is over.  not closing "your" festival is bologna.

remembber this is tool we're talking about here. can you point to something in recent band history that showed they gave a fuck about fans and their experience?
