Typical festival sets are great for typical festivals, but considering people are paying something around a $1400 premium for this, that schedule is pretty underwhelming. (I think I read somewhere that 3 nights / 4 days at the same resort would run about $1400 or $1500).
Tool could easily play a 2 hour set Friday and Sunday what with this being THEIR destination festival & all, but OTOH, it is Tool we’re talking about, so I can’t say I’m all that surprised.

remembber this is tool we're talking about here. can you point to something in recent band history that showed they gave a fuck about fans and their experience?
You clearly missed the end where I wrote "it is Tool we’re talking about, so I can’t say I’m all that surprised."
    yeah caught that....

point still holds though for readers wondering the same as your beginning.

Well.  They don't allow phone use during the show (until the last song).  That enhances my experience greatly.  But that's just me

If Tool were to play their standard 2.25 hours with their short intermission, it wouldn’t be so bad. But 90 minute sets is pretty bad, plus to have other major acts only getting one hour is also pretty bad. But a lot of the dislike is representative of the fan base. Phish and dead heads love these festivals, Tool fans not so much.

As a comparison, the Dead Ahead festival is basically Bobby Weir plus a cover band. It’s a five day festival so the cost is a couple thousand dollars more, but Bobby is playing three shows, and he will be on the stage for three hours each show.

also as a comparison, when mmj did their festival down there they played 7 albums over 3 nights.  close to 10 hours of stage time total.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

I could argue its secondary to them not wanting flashes or video lights on all the time. shit can be blinding.

attended a kpop show with my wife.  the group had its fans light em up. felt like the house lights were on....

Maybe you missed it for a reason.  Your path is chosen for you in advance.

That's how I justify all the shows I didn't go to!

Wow that's awesome. Been a long time since MJK stood out front of the band like that.

Maynard was out front when they joined him for Ænema at the Hollywood Bowl stop for Sessanta.

Awesome they all showed. Am going to see them in Mexico City in March-can't wait.

Any interest in this Salival set?

Bit too munted for me sorry mate. Saw one in Amoeba in LA for 80 bucks the other week but the bottom bit was ripped and the plastic split. They really need to reissue this but given they can't get their act together with 10KD and Ænima as well as the Cam de Leon artwork lawsuit I'm not holding my breath we'll see it.

Glad you didn't give it to your dad who put it in an attic for 15 years though. This is what colour it turns:

They're playing the Sabbath/Ozzy thing too with GnR and Rival Sons. Quite the lineup and I imagine the light show won't be there so Maynard will be at the front.

Glad I didn’t pay 3k for this weekend… my brother & my nieces are going to be able to see the entire show for free if they’re so inclined. I DO wish I got a room in their wedding block, but that’s life.

Do they have access to that area the whole weekend or will it just be a view from where they're staying?

I think they have access right up to the fence there. They're going to have a pretty clear view if they go a little closer to the water.

My brother can slightly see the stage from his room and they've have zero problem hearing the entire show... my niece was texting me during the sound check earlier today.

No, that's facing the stage... the barrier behind the umbrella is what separates the ticket holders from regular guests at the resort. There's a gate into the area just to the right of the person taking the picture.

Following the action on one of the FB pages, I guess the merchandise is a shit show, as usual... one would think for $3K / person they might just give everyone a poster, but nope... not these fuckers.

I can’t speak to the quality of this current merch (although some were complaining about the poster quality) - but some of the TITS specific items including the posters are available for pre-order on the website.
