Exactly three years since they were in Australia for the Big Day Out festival shows followed by an EV solo tour in February. Eddie said he wouldn't be back until he had some new music, so I guess this year is out.
Get the typewriter out Eddie and tell Stone, Jeff, Mike and Matt to plug the fuck in!!

Perhaps waiting on Trump to fuck some things up for inspiration.
You know that tour map does kind of look like a swarm of Fireflies... lol
Firefly line up is announced this Friday
I'd hope PJ plays Saturday and do a single day pass if possible. Already have two festivals line up this summer headlined by Tool and NIN
was just gonna say that it was gonna be announced on friday. I honestly don't think it'll happen now. This festival has pretty much sucked the past few years (line-up wise) IMO.

Stadiums lottery was in Feb last year. Give more notice for large venues as need and expect more travelers than regional arena tour. Sounds like wrigley's dance card if full for 17, but there are plenty of others available. I prefer arenas, but beggars can't be choosers.
My guess is this is what has happened and is going to happen. They planned on a 2017 summer Euro tour that has fallen through for whatever reason. They also have planned and are still planning a west coast NA tour but are waiting on the NBA and NHL 2017-2018 schedules to be made up before they can do so. This usually happens in May/June. My guess is we will not see anything like we did last year on the holds of venues due to the teams having first dibs on dates over concerts.
NHL announces their schedule in late June. NBA in August. Really hope we don't have to wait that long to find out about a potential fall tour.
When NBA/NHL schedules are announced has nothing to do with the availability of arenas in fall 2017-winter/spring 2018. Arenas can book events during the 2017-18 seasons, they just can't book too many of them. They have to submit a lengthy list of available dates to the league(s) well in advance, and can't book those dates until they receive the tentative schedule. When I worked in an arena the list was submitted 14-15 months out for the NBA.

This has nothing to do with how shows and tours are announced. Look at any arena in North America, there's often shows announced 6-12 months in advance, often prior to hockey and basketball schedules getting announced.
With all Pearl Jam tours over the past decade, there are usually 3-4 months of rumors prior to the tour announcement once they start putting holds on venues. There isn't going to be a surprise announcement, there will be many leaks and rumors before it is announced. Until that starts, there isn't much point in checking this thread unless you want to read, "I really hope Pearl Jam plays ______ city".
There are no shows booked at any arena until the schedule is made up for its existing sports teams. Check any major arena right now and there is nothing from September on. The times that this does happen is when they announce a tour in May/June and they have a whole year of sport teams scheduling to work around. There is no way the NHL and the NBA are going to work around concerts to book their schedule as they come first.
This is simply untrue, as I've noted above. Internally, these arenas have visibility what's happening in their building 12-18 months out. Playoff time is the only gray area, even then a single-team arena can book limited dates with permission (though they may get moved like PJ in Toronto for the Raptors.)
Speaking of the map, is it working properly for anyone else as far as tracking what shows you've been to? I thought I'm listing everything in the right format, but it's just completely determined to mark down London, UK on the map for me instead of London, Canada 2013.

Agree, the sports teams have little to do with the planning. I dont think the concert map means anything. We usually hear things before the announcements. Right now.....crickets. Sit tight.

Lottery for the stadiums ended January 25th last year. At this point last year, we were all aware of the tour and submitted our lottery choices.

I haven't been able to get it to work.
I stand corrected. My map now works. I entered my shows into Google Maps long ago.

Weird when you go to the site specific to the arena they have nothing for those dates booked. Thanks for the correction as I was always thought and was told that the teams come first no matter what. I had no clue there were some exemptions.

I don't mean to nitpick but I just checked my emails and the lottery for the arena shows ended and we were notified of the results on the 25th of January and the stadium shows on 8th of February.

This is depressing being that its January 24 and it appears were months away from anything meaningful.

Bruno Mars has a massive tour in 2017, with dates in many of the NBA/NHL arenas from mid-September on. Those tickets went on sale last November. http://www.ticketmaster.com/search?tm_link=tm_homeA_header_search&aid=1466801&user_input=bruno+Mars&q=Bruno+Mars. NYC, Brooklyn, Philly, Boston, DC, all the FLA and TX arenas, all booked already during next years' NBA/NHL seasons.
There are certainly other bands/events that have holds on arena dates for fall/winter/spring already. Maybe PJ is one of them.
