Alright folks, it's that time again.

Rumor has it that the final event at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit will be a PJ show in 2017. Detroit Red Wings radio broadcaster announced it over the air during a game, and Chelios has said he cannot confirm or deny that and listen to what Eddie said during the 2014 Detroit show.

It fucking sucks being a Pearl Jam fan in Seattle, it use to be the shit, I am sure a lot of it has to do with ticket & media requests, because it is probably 10 times worse than any other place they play, so then play the fucking Gorge! 2014 was my last show, and I had to travel to Memphis to see it, and Memphis is not an easy back and forth with no direct flights. Sincerely, Showless in Seattle

East Coast is where the $$$ is.....

that's funny cause shit sure is hella expensive here, and it is not like they can't go sleep in their own beds before and after the show, so the much lower expenses has to offset a lot of that, also it's not like they can't just play 3 shows here whenever they want, even if they aren't touring

you're better off going to see them in Philly... Seattle shows/crowds are notoriously underwhelming

unless we are talking about the gorge, which is awesome, but a few hours from seattle

If I had more vacation time, would've gone to the Philadelphia shows. I want to see a west coast show at least once.

Yes, they know how to close out arenas.

The Gorge is just better, Key Arena kind of sucks, Benaroya Hall which I see all the time, is an awesome venue, but way small, what would be awesome is 2 shows at Benaroya Hall then 2 a few days later at The Gorge

Hope they make a slight detour and hit Atlanta. The Bonnaroo festival screwed us Georgia folks.
    Greenville was awesome though!

I think Seattle is Bi-Polar. Sometimes they bring it, sometimes they don't. The band is similar. The 2009 shows were ok, but nothing crazy. They cloned a number of things both nights (bring in extra musicians for just breathe/the end, the real me in the encore etc..). They barely passed 2 hours in length (ie it felt like the band did the bare minimum). As much as it feels like we have a Bi-Polar crowd in Seattle, sometimes it feels like we have a Bi-Polar band. You have to wonder how crazy the crowd would get in Seattle if they tried the stuff they do out East. The experiment, albums front to back to etc... They played the gorge with an acoustic set and epic setlist and the crowd went apeshit.

If you go to a Seattle show the first thing you'll probably notice is how many fans aren't from Seattle. It's a well travelled show and has a huge population of die hard fans. I think the band really has to bring it in Seattle. When they have (Seattle II '98, Seattle II '00, and Gorge '05 come to mind) they can tear the roof down. I was really shocked when they played a single show in 2013. They hadn't done a single show at Key Arena since as far back as I can remember. Especially when the venue wasn't being used the next day and the show sold out in 6 seconds.

  • Seattle and Vancouver can be lame crowds because the fans have seen them there so many damn times over the years. I don't blame the band for taking a break from Seattle so they can build up demand again.

I think 1 show since 2009 is enough of a fucking break!

full disclosure: i have never seen PJ in the city of Seattle... but over the years I have heard the same theme, PJ in Seattle isn't all that amazing as you would think, especially the crowds... maybe people out west think they are too cool to show passion or emote?

but, when we went out to Seattle in 2005 for the gorge show I was shocked by the lack of locals interest in Pearl Jam... literally everyone we talked to was just like "yeah, I loved Ten in high school" or just looked at us like we were losers when we mentioned we came out to see the band... everyone just seemed very indifferent... and when we arrived at the gorge I asked about 100 random people where they were from and ZERO were from the pacific northwest, let alone Seattle...

long story short, I have zero interest in seeing them in Seattle... the gorge is another story, which has everything to do with the venue and visiting the wonderful city of Seattle while out there, and nothing to do with PJ playing in the Seattle area

I went to the riot act shows at the key and they crowd was so lame. I figured it was since no alcohol was being served at the band request. I couldn't believe it. If I would have known prior I never would have gone.

Saw PJ in Seattle in 2013... Great long show! The crowd was okay. Not the best I've ever seen, but a far cry from the worst. A lot was made about EV having to encourage the crowd to sing at one point. I didn't see the big deal, as this has happened at plenty of other shows.
Sometimes I wonder if the expectations for Seattle shows are too high just because it's Seattle.
