From start to finish and on your feet sober experiencing Pearl Jam is a must.
It's annoying when you see many people not listening to the music just wandering around or focused on anything but the concert.
A Pearl Jam concert is not a patio pub folks.

We are in agreement for, like, the very first time lol

EvenBros and EvenHos. I love it. I'm using these phrases now.

Also, 100% love the vaping at shows. SO MUCH BETTER that the cloud of stank ass weed that sits above your head. I wish everyone who was lighting up at shows would vape. It's so much more pleasant for those of us around you who don't wanna breathe your second hand lol

When i vape with weed i still blow out smoke. Is there some kind of totally smokeless vape pen i haven't heard about?? If so, what are people inhaling??

Anyway, yes, drunks are the worst! I had Neil Young almost ruined by some stupid drunk cow right behind me when i was on the rail. She was the most obnoxious, awful person of all time and she just wouldn't shut the fuck up. She also started making fun of everyone near her who was wearing earplugs. Total loser.
I stay straight and sober for PJ shows. Who needs booze or drugs when you're at a PJ show?? It's not like one has to try and make it more fun. A PJ show is already maxed out on fun without it, lol.
All vaporizers are smokeless. Its not smoke, it's vapor. Big difference.

And by the way, anyone have issues getting a vaporizer into the shows? Hampton they didnt allow it. Had to stash it into my shoe. Did the same in philly, but never got caught with it, so not sure if it was allowed or not. Seems silly you can have cigs but not an ecig.
Walked into hampton, philly, and msg tonight with no issues... just toss it into the belongings dish at security and walk through like you own the place, nobody gives it a 2nd glance

I've been to shows all over the country and would have to agree that Philly is the worst for drunks.

I am of the belief that tailgating and getting full on fall down shitfaced drunk before shows in Philadelphia is a competitive sport for these people.

Ever been to an outside Hartford show? LOL...College Beer Muscle Central...

You got lucky in hampton at least. I held it up in my hands while being wanded and they kicked me out of the line, which was rather long. Thats when i put it in my shoe and got back in that way.

I can't recall Eddie ever puking, pissing, passing out, or falling on someone, so yeah, buzzed is one thing, hammered is another.

True. But... Can you imagine the "merch-like-esque" demand that would be created by some puke chunklets or pissy dribble? Containment would be the biggest issue; can't just put that in your pocket.

Guy next to me on rail in Lexington was politely asked to put his away by security...no big issue made of it.

My back doesn't allow me to stand much let alone the whole time, but being in the zone even if buzzed? Hell yeah. Everyone digs things in their own way and you never know what they're going through in that moment, from the outside.

I almost punched a guy Philly night 1 in sect 102 who was too drunk to find his seat so he was shoving his phone in people's faces during the show to get them to help him. I tried, but when he obviously couldn't comprehend what I was saying I told him to move along, to which he proceeded to purposely knock my hat off of my head. The only thing that stopped me from letting him have it was a) I wasn't going to let a loser like that ruin the rest of my night and 2) thinking about the footage from the MTV Singles Party with Ed saying "Don't be violent!!" LOL. EvenBros are the worst.

I was also in Sec. 102 night 1 in Philly. I don't know if it was the same guy... but there was a dude sitting directly behind me that was so wasted he just sat in his seat, head in his hands, rocking back and forth. For the whole show. After the show, was waiting in the hallway for friends ... EM's were taking him out in a wheelchair. And when I went to put my jacket on... yep... there was puke on it. Personally... I don't care how wasted you decide to get at a show, as long as you don't become a nuisance/problem to those around you. Lord knows I like to smoke up, have a few myself and have a good time. But I also always firmly keep in mind to know my limits and NOT get to the point where I would ruin someone else's show experience. I go to a lot of shows that encompass a lot of different genres, and this happens everywhere. Not just Pearl Jam. People need to just remember/be reminded to respect your fellow concert goer and be safe out there... we are all there for the same reason, to have a good time. Know your limits, have fun, but respect and be polite to your show neighbors. :)

I was in 102, row 3. I lost my glasses and the people around me helped me look but they were no where to be found. Went to guest services and they found them under the bleachers. Anyway 102 was a pretty good place to be except in front of a puker...lol.

When I started this thread, I was still mad about how our show experience went. Reading this thread has made me laugh. It also reminded me PJ has some of the best fans around.

    Thanks!!

  • Even Bros at every show Ive been to, including Ed's uke tour. Had red wine spilled all over my brand new tan colored ev tour shirt and poster before the show started.

Like someone else said, it happens at all shows, of all bands, in all cities. Many People in general dont know their limits, or dont care. Unfortunately it sometimes is just part of the gig.

Yep, I had a drunk near me at Philly 2. Thankfully it didn't spoil the night.

And while we're at it, what about the fucking idiots smoking at MSG? You can't go a few hours without needing a cigarette?

Never had a beer or smoked anything at a PJ show. I get high and buzzed on the music.

    I'm with you on this!
But, I must admit, it took me many years to realize that using alcohol and weed at a concert - as fun as it was - was really just dulling my senses.
There is REAL MAGIC HAPPENING when music is being created live and once I experienced it clear-headed and sober I have never wanted to do it any other way!
I decided that drinking is best saved for any other boring night when nothing else is going on.
There's really nothing like Pearl Jam performing MAGIC right before your very eyes (and ears)!!!
Don't miss a split second of it - you can't put the rabbit back in the hat!!!

Yep. When you get that many people together in one place, there are always going to be a few assholes who can't handle their shit.

MSG Night 1 I was in the pit about 5 rows back from Eddie with some drunk idiots around me. Night 2 I opted for the back of GA and it was much better. If nothing else you can move to a different spot and avoid annoying people if necessary. Having said that, the vast majority of people are cool. But it just takes one to ruin a show.

I'm a smoker and even I don't understand this. As we were leaving I saw a guy with a lit Marlboro in his hand in 224. Like, what? People still do that? Yea, late nineties/early 2000s before the smoking ban was taken seriously we used to smoke inside venues too but back then it was different, a lot more people smoked and there was no such thing as an e-cig! Those things are $10 for a disposable, if you're going to need to smoke inside an arena there's really no excuse for not getting one of them. I'm taking one to Wrigley because it's open air.

Cool to hear that from a smoker! I could understand maybe one during the first encore break, but there was a guy a few rows infront of me pretty much chain smoking through the whole night! D'oh!
