  • Well... I went ahead and submitted a volunteer application today! If I get accepted that will be great and if not I will be jealous of all who got to go. Hopefully my wife won't divorce me (leaving town for a whole weekend a month before I leave town for Wrigley too). ;)

Good luck. It looks like there's still plenty of shifts available. A lot of the night shifts are gone.

Yeah that worried me a little because it said you had to work one night shift. There were hardly any night shifts left (I chose Sunday night Ice Station lol... but I'd rather be driving home Sunday night so hope I don't get that), so I was wondering if that influences whether or not you get picked as a volunteer.

  • I got my volunteer info. First they scheduled me for merchandise on Saturday and Crowd Management Sunday night. I was picturing having to deal with gate crashers, people smuggling stuff in their bags, and tripping hippies taking a swing at me. So I asked if there was anything else I could do besides Crowd Management on Sunday and they gave me Concession Wash Stand which I guess means keeping food prep areas clean. Not the greatest but better than Security. ;) If the band adds more shows in the area I will skip out before the 6/15 volunteer deadline and go to another show. I'm not thrilled with having to deal with camping and supplies and all that but it's pretty cool to be able to go to PJ without the $275 ticket. This show better live up to the hype and not be a 2 hour greatest hits! I think the setting will inspire them to do some stuff they don't/never have.

Booked my flight to Durango this weekend. So psyched for this show. Got the total hook up through a friend for a room at The Peaks Resort & Spa for $60 a night. (They usually go for about $300).
I swore off camping at a music fest after Woodstock '94.
And I'm actually considering taking my kids (age 13 & 11) to this, it would be their first PJ show & kids >12 are free. I'll just have to remind them to never take candy from a stranger....especially in Colorado. lol

We are bringing are littles with us, 7 and 12. Just booked our room in town at the Viking Lodge, now just need to land tickets on Friday!!

FYI-there are not many room options left through the various booking sites (VRBO, Telluride's lodging sites, travel sites, etc) that are not just outrageous in price. If your going, get that room soon!

Funny...I got merch Sat am and crowd management sunday night too! Of course, would prefer to be able to check out new bands on sunday so might just pull the trigger and buy a tix Fri and cancel volunteering. Either way I'd have to spend $70 to camp in town hall campground. Would be a bummer if it is a greatest hits show but it could also be something different/special like an all acoustic show. You just never know. Plus, it's my third favorite venue (behind the gorge and red rocks, of course!)

I'm volunteering as well. My job they tell me is to test the beer to make sure it tastes good and is fresh. That's a pretty good gig.

So I have the wifes approval to go to this thing. Is it crazy to book everything now before I have a ticket? I feel like hotels and flights will only get more expensive.

I called the number on the website today and the lady that answered was great. She was in a meeting when I first called and asked to call me back and she did, she called me back 20 mins later.

Anyway, according to her and as of today, GA tix are $265 (about $280 after fees) and the VIP tix are $520 or so. Kids 12 and under are free in both GA and VIP. There will be 11,500 tickets but only about 10,000 are put up for public sale because of the band's allotment and the volunteers that get free tix. There will be 1500 VIP tickets and they expect those to sell out really fast, they are not sure what to expect with the GA tickets but that they will sell out, just not sure how fast. VIP has some seating and a canopy, with it's own bathrooms and drink booths. VIP also has a complimentary cocktail hour on Saturday evening and a brunch Sunday morning.

One other thing, they have a huge bike rack area so you can ride your bike from your hotel and just lock it up there during the festival. As of Friday, they close the streets to vehicles and only those with a parking pass (or room or camping pass confirmation) will be able to get through. So, if you are going, bring your bike to get around! Maybe a local or someone who has been there before can comment on this?

    Great info. Thanks.

But, $280 for a ticket is too much for me.

I keep checking my shifts, I sure hope they don't change before the festival. Also hope they are right in saying PJ is on sat 7-11. Talking to some people about the brews and blues festivals there and they said the headliner band is always on sat nite, too allow for wind down on the Sunday.

Really hoping we don't have to battle the Bots for tickets. I'm thinking w/original price being so high the potential for markup profit is less than for other shows, so maybe they won't go at it so hard... but who knows.
Kinda nervous b/c usually I'm just trying to grab a single & for this show we need 4...
Also downloaded the Eventbrie app but don't see the Ride Fest on their events page ????

I don't understand the need for VIP tickets to a festival with 10,000 people, the whole damn thing is VIP compared to most festivals nowadays

This is true. Get regular tickets. You won't need the VIP area. People make fun of the people in the VIP area, including the band. haha. ;)

The band stays in VIP hotels, gets VIP treatment during travel, and show up to venue and get handed a guitar or drum stick. If they make fun of people that can afford $200 more a show that would be odd.

Hotels are already outrageous lol... all I did was look at priceline for Telluride... piece of crap hotels that are probably normally $150 during ski season are $900 over the music festival weekend. Insane. This is definitely a rich-people festival. It seems super cool though. When I saw the photos/videos on their website and when I read on here that PJ might have from 7-11 for their set, I totally wanted to go! I'm still hoping I can, I don't wanna bail as a volunteer but it's so far ahead I just don't know what will happen. If I do, I might have an extra vehicle/camping pass for sale in a few months cause that's what I plan on getting tomorrow at 11.

I was really hoping to do this, would have been a great getaway for the family and not too far from Denver but just cannot in good conscience hack the full package price with lodging, etc. I am smelling a special set so that stings even worse. See some names from DEN 2014, hope you guys have a great time.
