Yikes! And after checking out places on airbnb this will cost a fortune to attend not to mention getting there. This really looks like a great time but you're definitely gonna have to pay for it!! My heart wants to go but my wallet is saying stay home and my head is telling me this is a once in a lifetime opportunity!

i'm almost sure they have gone past curfew for the bluegrass festival more than once in the past so no worries there. they will cater to PJ. i have no doubt about that. like someone mentioned. rent an suv. and sleep in it, up on mountain village, where there is plenty of parking. show up day of the show if u can't make it 2 nites in the parking lot(suv). if the show sells out you could always drive into town park the car and hang around outside of the venue where you will be able to hear the show easily

Grand Junction and Durango airports are both 2 hours and change from Telluride.

I'm not sure Telluride is the type of town that has a Wal-Mart, but you never know. Maybe you can pay someone to park in their driveway. I've camped in the back of an SUV before, so I definitely recommend the air mattress. Other than that, it's summer, so if you really need a sleeping bag is debatable.

Mid 200s??? For GA or VIP? If GA that's crazy. I figured out how this festival must have booked PJ... they gave 90% of the artist budget to PJ and the other no name bands no one has heard of get to split the rest. I mean 9-11,000 people... only way it makes sense right?
OK, people have heard of Cage the Elephant... so maybe PJ got 80%, CTE 10% and the no names split the last 10...

I think vip was close to 400 bucks last year. If you can swing that and need a place to stay, I think I read Tom Cruise is selling his house up there for 59 million...
Would absolutely love to go to this. Did the $ math and it just doesn't make sense. In order to afford this I'd have to pass on other local shows AND already got Wrigley x2. Must resist and pass on what is a beautiful venue. This will be THE show of the tour. That kind of setting, mountains, will set the mood for the nighy. I'm calling an opening acoustic set or entire acoustic show.

there is no walmart in telluride. the town is tiny. one 2 lane road in and one 2 lane road out there is a walmart in montrose but driving there through the mountains at night isn't a great option

You will definitely need a sleeping bag and a couple of extra layers of clothes. Ive been many times to the bluegrass fest and the Dead. It can easily be high 80's during the day and 30's at night. one of the most beautiful places in the country in my opinion. Havent been in a long time but the nearest chain stores are in Montrose an hour + away.

There is no way around it....this trip will be costly (3 grand all in!?). No direct flight to montrose so round trip flight with connection from Canada is about a grand. Then you need hour and a half ground transportation to Telluride. Hotels and Airbnb all very expensive. Camping will cost less but would have to travel with quite a bit of gear. The show seems like a real special one to be at but logistically very complicated.

^^^ This. When I went to the bluegrass festival in June several years ago, it was in the low 30's at night and I ended up wearing my puffy coat and gloves to most of the evening shows. Also make sure you have rain gear and closed-toe shoes just in case!
I'll ride the wave where it takes me...

another thing fans need to keep in mind when going there. the venue is almost 8000 ft above sea level. stay hydrated by drinking lots and lots of water. it's very easy to get dehydrated and it can land you in serious trouble(helicopter ride to a hospital). no joke. it's happened many times to many people.

I second this very strongly
As a Colorado resident I NEVER go anywhere without water. Doesnt matter if I'm at 5200 ft above sea level or 14,000+.
And NO!! beer, iced tea, coffee, etc are not useful for staying hydrated.
Water water water
That's todays lesson boys and girls on how to stay healthy in Colorado. Next up.....how to be careful with edibles!!
