I would not count Unplugged. TV taping. Non-concert appearance.

    But ... AWESOME. :)

On awesome we can agree but c'mon...that was a show!
I'd definitely count Unplugged as a show. Whether it was recorded for tv or not, it's a full concert and not the band appearing for a song or two on someone else's variety show. Letterman, SNL, etc, are NOT Pearl Jam concerts.
  • SVRDhand13: Dude. PJ's own concert history doesn't even list TV appearances. Go to 1996. Nothing on Letterman, Hail, Hail and Leaving Here and it being a "show."

If you think a one-song TV appearance should count toward their 1,000th concert, I really can't help you.

    Hang on...

They include a two song set for VH1 Rock Honors: The Who in 2008

For years PJ's own concert history didn't include the 2008 Beacon Theatre show, either. Now it does. None of this is set in stone. It's all subjective.

They also didn't have beacon for years. They also don't have the oracle concert. Yet They have rock honors. There's no right answer. It's all opinion.

Based on the name change the only update would be adding any "private" performances. From what I understand Microsoft was Eddie only so that would not count. The only other "performance" remaining (that I am aware of) would be the fixer taping at the showbox. Since the band played two songs for the 300 people after the taping this appearance would have to count in the totals. Therefore...the new grand total of performances is 986 and number 1000 is MSG2.

I believe The Fixer tapings were in front of paid actors since they were for a TV commercial. So I wouldn't count that.

    We'll never all agree!

What about when Eddie used to come out REAL early and play a song or two for the few lucky people who showed up early? That's a seperate performance from that night's show.

Also, Wrigley '13-before the storm and after the storm...two separate days (before/after midnight), 2 seperate performances, right?

    Please update your spreadsheets.

They were paid AND they didn't even know who they were going to see. Now if the band only filmed the commercial and then left I wouldn't count it BUT since they stayed and played the crowd two songs separate after the taping I think it has to count as a performance.

It is this performance that will make the difference between MSG2 or Quebec City becoming number 1000

I think we make a bigger deal about this compared to the band. At philly night 2 2013, it was the 23rd anniversary and Eddie didn't even realize it.
  • Let's see if 10c responds and has a count. That's the only way we'd have clarity.

Thanks for the convos. Good stuff.
  • Fixer video was not a show or performance. Just a video filming.

I wouldn't count VH1 Who Honors, either, to final total.

Guess I just have high standards. :)

So if I pull up next to Ed at a stop light and he's singing in his car... It's live, and there's an audience.

If it is a ticketed event it counts. All the TV performances had a live, ticketed audience. They count.
