How long does it take to walk from MSG to Grand Central?

Depends how fast you walk. 20 minutes - half hour. You've gotta cross like half the width of Manhattan, about 5 avenues, plus 7 blocks.
    Thanks for the info.
And plan your walk. If you shoot down park ave and cut over walking with the lights it can be fast.
Walk through 42nd and 34th street crowds and it will take you double the time.

Not to mention plan your entrance/exit in GC. You can use Google street view to confirm, but I think there's a subway entrance at 40th st & park. It's been a long time, so I might be off, but the point is you don't have to use the entrance that shows up on Google maps. With big stations like GC there's a lot of entrances

You want to exit out onto 42nd and Park on the south side of GC. Go to the left of the restaurant under the bridge and proceed south on park. I think you can go cross town on 38th all way over to 7th. Not the most scenic route, but you will avoid the crowds most of the way.

    Thanks again!

You're going to be right down the street from 1) me and 2) Kaufman Astoria Studios where PJ's MTV Unplugged was filmed!

I love Dino's sicilian pizza (31st St & Broadway) and PizzAstoria sometimes has a killer slice of bacon ranch (34th St & Broadway)

I'm gonna throw it out there that unless you're in a hurry, don't stress out so much about exiting at the "right" entrance. Grand Central is big but it's not that big and midtown is on the grid so pretty easy to correct course if you have GoogleMaps on your phone :)

Could any good NY people share a # for a delivery service? Something that might work at a hotel near Times Square? Just under Central Park? Sorry if my directions are haze-y

    Asking for a friend

Thanks to everyone for their help on my Brooklyn questions, but as usual with this trip, plans have changed, haha. My buddy ended up having a connection to the Hyatt Regency in Jersey City (99/night), so we got a room there instead. Looks like we just jump on the PATH train at Exchange Place and ride from there (with a few changes/stops)?

PATH can be tricky. It runs a little differently on weekends vs weekdays. You can take Exchange place stop directly into the city (takes you to WTC) and then take the subway up from there, or take it towards Grove St and then switch trains to head back the other direction. If it's a weekday, it will go to Newport then into the city. If it's a weekend it will hit Newport then continue up to Hoboken, sit in the station for several minutes, then continue into the city. The last stop at 33rd St will dump you out a block from MSG.

Sunswick on 35th & 35th is a bar with a lot of beer options, I can't remember if they have a kitchen, but I think they do and I think I liked their burger, Sanfords on Broadway between 30 & 31st is an awesome 24 hour spot with fantastic butternut squash ravioli & gouda stuffed duck burgers! The regular burgers are good too, pizza from Sac's Dino's on Broadway and 30th or Leo's on 36th ave and 31st.

You also need to go out for Greek food if you're staying in that area. OH! And arepas from arepas cafe on 36th ave and like 34thish st.

There's a beer garden called studio sq on 37th St between 36 & 35th ave if it's nice out and there's games you wanna watch.

As for things to do you're by the museum of moving image if you're into that

    Thanks for the help!
    grace and peace

Greetings from Austin! Thanks for all the great input in this thread. My grown daughter and I are coming in for MSG2. We're looking for suggestions on the best neighborhood(s) to hit for Saturday night. Quintessential New York if one can find such a thing. Casual dining and a good/diverse bar selection. Crowded is fine as long as we can find a table for dinner without too long a wait and at least a spot at the bar. Safe of course (hadn't been to the city in 15 years) and not too far off the beaten path...we'll be taking the subway. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Flying into Newark on Saturday, what is the best/easiest way to get to Manhattan? We will make a quick stop at the hotel to drop off bags(walking distance to MSG) then off to Mets game.

There's a monorail from the airport that connects to the NJTransit train station. The train will take you right into NY Penn Station, directly below MSG.

Has a merch pop up at Volcom been completely ruled out?
I hate dealing with the MSG lobby. I'd rather take care of it days in advance and leave my posters safely at home.

I'm pretty sure the Volcom NYC store on Broadway has closed in the time since the Global Citizen fest.

I live 10 minutes away from you. Either do what you are saying, or take a walk over to the Newport/Pavonia station (10 minute walk give or take) and take the HOB/33rd St train. Instead of having to get off the PATH, up the escalator and onto a subway uptown you can get out on 33rd and 6th, one avenue from MSG. Time wise is pretty close, but it's a little easier just taking the 33rd St Path line IMO.
