There's a general victimization mentality that is afflicting this country right now. There is no doubt in my mind that minorities (particularly African-Americans) are at a natural disadvantage vs whites in this country. But it goes beyond that. Read the Huffington Post today.. there are so many articles that seek to stoke the belief that you are a victim. Flip to the right.. National Review, Red State, etc. They are all victims too. It's ridiculous and I generally can't stand to be around any of it anymore. I don't even know where to get the news from anymore.0

People born in the US generally have a much greater advantage compared to the world. Whether it's second or third is dependent on a few factors. I am the son of a Ukrainian immigrant who never finished 8th grade. We were very blue collar and very low/middle class. There's no doubt that a Harvard legacy has an advantage over me. But I also had an inherent advantage over someone born in East Baltimore, for example. Perhaps because I'm white, or that I had my father there to kick my ass or lots of other things. There's probably white privilege but there's certainly socioeconomic privilege.tempo_n_groove said:

Sure are, it's not the best area to grow up. There are people that have it rough everywhere there's no doubt. But, as shitty as it is, there is still an element of racism and privilege within the area.
