No nothing was announced and this is just for fun. Which band would you like to see open for PJ for their next tour- whenever that will be.

My pick goes to Wolfmother, pretty popular and some good songs.

I think after this album they'll be too big to open for others.

Yeah, KOL is going to reach another level when they release their new album in September. I recommend Rose Hill Drive for an opener. I was just introduced to them and they are fantastic!

KoL and the Mouse are great choices there, I'd love to see them open for the greatest band EVER.

KoL should have close out the June tour! no disrespect to Ted Leo but just not my taste... ;)

Kings of Leon absolutely blew me away in Tampa. Although I don't think they should be opening for anyone, I would love to see them again.

Wilco would make for the best 1-2 I could imagine...not sure it would play well to a PJ crowd...but they are by far my favorite non PJ band out there...

I think KOl and Modest Mouse are amazing bands and obviously great choices but i think the opening slots should be for smaller lesser known bands...like when PJ took Idlewild on tour in 03.

My choice for next tour would be "The National"...

    or "Orphan Code"...or "Wolf Parade"

Smaller bands that need the new exposure. I think PJ fans trust the bands choices for supports and they've always advocated supporting new bands.

back in the 70's when led zeppelin toured america, they never had an opener. they didn't need one as they were a major draw themselves. pearl jam is in this catagory - their live shows are rivaled by none.

that being said my selection for opener would be - TAB THE BAND
    Camden 7-5-2003, Camden 7-6-2003, Hershey 7-12-2003, Camden 5-27-2006, Camden 5-28-2006, Lollapalooza 8-5-2007, Camden 6-19-2008, Camden 6-20-2008, New York 6-24-2008, New York 6-25-2008, Mansfield 6-28-2008, Mansfield 6-30-2008

I'd love to see PJ bring mudhoney back on tour with them but as far as new artists I think a band like Flight of The Conchords would be awesome

I was thinking the Black Keys and would love to see that but if I'm seeing MMJ live I want to see them play for at least 3 hours, so I don't think that would work haha.

I'd love Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Seriously.

Wolf Parade would be nice, too.

    Social Distortion.
  • Nobody - IMO opening bands are annoying and just delay what im there for. I saw Rush at the Hollywood bowl last yr - show was set to start at 7 and they came on at 7:15 and played till after 10. I understand the point of opening acts but i could care less - i usually dont like the band opening anyway.

I agree with some of the previous posts, you have to focus upon lesser known bands as openers. Pearl Jam definitely has a knack for finding these bands and launching their careers! As much a I like Wilco, The Raconteurs, and Modest Mouse, I feel as though these bands are to big to open. I had completely overlooked Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. They are one of the most underrated bands and would completely blow people away.
