Back to the tariff's issue.   Trump deferred the tariff on vehicles to next month.  Now there's new articles coming out that he wants to possibly create exceptions for agriculture, which I'm guessing is our Potash.

I kind of thought he would of figured out this stuff before bringing in tariff's.  The 10% on energy, kind of showed they realize they really do a solid amount of our natural resources.  I was originally concerned they'd try to tariff manufacturing but leave natural resources alone, so they get them all raw, then make a mint producing it into stuff (kind of like they do now).

I guess maybe that's where were headed.  What's our next move?  Export tariff's on them to apply pressure to remove all the tariff's?  It feels like they're giving us a list of all their weak points?

I guess I was going to say something here, but after seeing how nobody has anything to say about anything in this thread, I realise it all goes without saying.

Canada should tariff everything if the US tariffs anything. And not help Trump out.

Are you guys buying more Canadian (and European) stuff now, and avoiding US things?

    ya, less travel there, too

My electric bill at $140 a month is going up 25% until Fortis gains US market independence. Not a problem for me, but lots of kids show up to school hungry and teachers fight over whether they should feed them or not

Agree with the ruling, not because I don’t believe it was purely a political move to avoid a confidence vote, but that it’s nearly impossible to prove.

Maybe the next government can legislate some guardrails on the practice.

I hope we can agree that the timing of this prorogation couldn’t have been worse.

    100%

I honestly can’t think of any guardrails that would be general enough not to handcuff an admin or specific enough to address every situation. Thoughts?

Unfortunately I’m running out the door and don’t really have any ideas off the top of my head beyond more latitude for the GG to deny the request, but I’ll try to come up with something more as I run errands, lol.

I hope you were just as offended when Harper did it to stay in power.

    At least Trudeau stepped down.

I do agree the timing of the prorogue wasn't great.  At the time it felt like they chose party over country to get their ducks in a row and prepare for the next election, rather than make sure the legislature could sit to deal with the trade war.   Albeit had it happened we would of most likely gone to an election, so we'd have Pierre dealing with it right now.    Not sure how that would of gone.   Trudeau isn't perfect, but I think he's handled the current situation well.

I think I read yesterday too that Singh will no longer do a vote of no confidence when legislature resumes.   I think the NDP needs a new leader.  I'm guessing the Libs voluntarily call an election before they lose their current momentum.
