This is pretty crazy.   I've never felt this way about the US before.  I've spent my entire life hopping the border and adventuring in the US.  Exploring new places, attending concerts, meeting new people.   I've always looked fondly on going there.

This put's a worse feeling in the pit of my stomach than when covid started.   Our biggest ally turned on us.  I'm pretty concerned that it go could beyond economic.   If the same people that voted him in, are coerced by their media that we're the bad guys.  Holy crap :(

It’s pretty bad, but in this country it’s very bad. imagine if some of your family friends and coworkers turned on you and joined  the cult. They blame all their problems on immigrants.

I’ve raised my voice at my MIL a couple  times at holiday dinner tables, and my wife supported me. I’ve had my life threatened “jokingly” by cultists who were friends.  And when you bring up obvious stupid things 47 does, they turn into zombies. And not the fun song from the nineties.

Canadians need to remember that about half of the country here are still friends, and hopefully one day we can win back the govt.

If anything, a good bit of advice is to diversify your economy as much as possible. Relying on exports to a neighbor ten times your size, with one political party and their rabid followers uninterested in the truth is risky business long term.

We pay hundreds of Billions of Dollars to SUBSIDIZE Canada. Why? There is no reason. We don’t need anything they have. We have unlimited Energy, should make our own Cars, and have more Lumber than we can ever use. Without this massive subsidy, Canada ceases to exist as a viable Country. Harsh but true! Therefore, Canada should become our Cherished 51st State. Much lower taxes, and far better military protection for the people of Canada — AND NO TARIFFS!

Let’s think this through. Canada becomes a state and now immediately is the largest state by population and the most electoral votes. Anyone think it’s a red state? Seems unlikely. Throw in a few senators and a bunch of Congressmen and suddenly we have a whole new union taking shape.

Now we don’t need Mexico and as Trump says we can do everything here. It’s called autarky and that’s what we need. Plus my daughter wanted a career in picking avocados, but the Mexican govt was in the way. She can now forget about going to medical school and focus on her real passion.

I don't use a lot of social media, pretty much just Facebook, but I find it odd, there's almost nothing about the tariff's on it.  Almost creepy in it's absence.

It’s buried on Fox News. I don’t think right wing media is celebrating this.

The headline on Fox is that woke PETAis not thrilled with the treatment of the groundhog. Hard hitting news. No joke.

So, does that mean "fuck you" to all of us in the U.S., even if we are strongly against the tariffs, even if, as I just did above, acknowledge our feeling friendly toward Canada and Canadians, even if we abhor what is being done.  Great, just a big "fuck you" to all of us?  Jesus Christ, man.  Fuck that.
Absolutely, it’s time we start seeing other people. We won’t be visiting you and would appreciate it if you didn’t visit us.

I literally have zero desire to cross the border now, as Zod mentioned. It’s a weird feeling.

Was considering the Minnesota yacht festival again. Nope. My concert buddy said the same thing.

Only one friend of mine mentioned it. I have noticed, however, whenever I post a political rant, American or Canadian in nature, I get zero engagement. I guess my friend list is just tired of politics in general.

I changed my mind. If this is what’s happening in Canada, we don’t need you to export your sexual predators.

I have a trip planned to Nashville at the end of the month, and am attending a guitar camp in June. Sadly, I expect those will be my last times in the US until leadership changes and sanity is restored.

I think this might actually have an unintended consequence that Trump doesn’t recognize (and likely doesn’t care about): this is going to unite canada in a way usually only seen during international hockey tournaments.

Jean Chretien posted an op-ed where he called for the same thing from Canadian. I'm on board with purchasing more Canadian goods. The scary thing was how quickly Trump has been able to get the world on board with isolationism, after years of promoting global trade as a way to assure we all have strong access to a vast set of goods at reasonable prices. Really not a good sign that this chaos monkey can spread his chaos globally.

The BC Premier got it right, prohibit sales of req state liquor. So Minnesota should be perfectly fine, and Nashville should be out.

Which makes one wonder about the logic of PJs touring strategy. For many years, political fans dreamed PJ would have some sort of political influence, and line up a tour with a fall election. Their recent touring strategy is 100% the opposite of that.

Last year before the election was primarily blue states, this year the tour is all Trump states. PJ shows should be part of any anti red state boycott. /s

I am participating. When going food shopping, Florida oranges are out, apples are in!

It’s not just access to goods. Our connected economies are single most important reason we haven’t had an intercontinental war in 80 years. It’s the longest such period in a thousand years. That’s all at risk with protectionist economies.
