Wilco just announced a very small Jan/Feb tour yesterday. Granted, playing fairly small theaters so it probably doesn't take as much planning. I'm not expecting anything from PJ 6-7 months in advance, but I would welcome it. Nothing wrong with planning ahead!!

I saw them / Wilco last month, it was fantastic. I highly recommend catching a show if they come near you. Star Wars, their new album is awesome too. Pick it up for free on iTunes.
With all the rumors (of venue holds and all that) I can see something happening. If it's in April and May I don't know if they would announce this early so I'm glad I have a heads up and will start my PJ tour fund! 6 months seems like a long time out to start selling tickets or am I totally wrong here?
6 months isn't long at all. Arcade Fire released their last tour schedule about 9 months ahead of time a few years ago.
However, I disagree with the person who said a tour announcement would be planned in advance of the holiday season since people wouldn't have money. Things like that are not considered by the concert industry. They don't just shut down the industry for 2 months so people can spend money on presents.
lol..yes but PJ is not like other bands, especially in the touring dept. As much as I would like to know their schedule....I just don't see a full on tour announcement for the Spring this early...
BTW, I would love to have to eat this post :-)
You want fries with that?
Hells yea
Thank you fellow 10 clubber for saving my ass....again!!!
If the festivals provide enough cash to get them on the road and sprinkle a few other shows around them then I am all for the festivals. That said, I've been two three festival shows now to see them and won't make a huge effort to get to one.
i think southern fans are going to be happy... and i think thats why they will be announcing early so they can sell as many tix as possible in southern locations that typically dont sell out
also... if florida rumors are true then i have to assume Atlanta or Nashville would be logical... as well as other locations as they move north
Anyone know when an announcement is coming? Are we thinking by the end of the month?

It seems to depend on the festival. Calgary '09 was pretty damn good and PJ got a full set in (2 hours+). I agree it can suck to deal with the megalarge crowds only to see pj play for 60 to 90 minutes, but not all festival shows are bad. The calgary one felt so old school. Complete Venue GA, big pit up front, high energy show and a lot of older songs in the setlist....
It could also be that festival had no one else of note on it..... so they needed PJ to play a full headlining gig to give it some credibility
i think these will be mostly southern dates with a few northeast shows.. so im not so sure canada would be a lock in this tour/announcement.... although i do assume they willplay candadian dates in 2016, just dont think they will be in this run
Who said that? If they are touring the east coast you'd have to think that Toronto is a lock.

You are in a bad spot for shows. Shows in Winnupeg are few and far between. I wouldn't count on one any time soon. Looks like you'll have to hop on a airplane.

the crowd at winnipeg 2005 was freaking insane! I wish they'd play there again soon. Was there a huge snowstorm the last time they played there or was that edmonton?

if you think a date in Houston wouldn't sell out in a heartbeat (assuming they don't play a 360 venue, and even if they do it will only be the way up the the rafters, behind the stage tickets that don't), I challenge all the travelling fans to stay away from the ticket sale and see what happens....
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

that was Edmonton.
and yeah, Ed even mentioned that winnipeg was the loudest pre-show crowd he'd ever heard (of course he may have just been being nice).

man, it used to be MUCH MUCH worse back in the heyday. with our new(ish) arena (and now our new football field), we get most every big act to town now. the problem is the smaller acts. it costs so much to travel so far for one show. many winnipeggers head to Minnie/St Paul for their show fix. that's where I saw PJ last, and EV solo as well.
but, PJ was here 2005 and 2011, so maybe 2017?

Won't they first make an announcement similar to SA tour with a picture and all it says is "Announcement coming soon!"
Or for Global Citizens "Stay Tuned" with the subway picture.
??
Yup, they would.....
