Hit the shop, grab you stuff, hit the closest FedEx/UPS and mail it to yourself, hit the show. Boom!my2hands said:
If I go to the festival it's a day trip riding the train into the city and back home afterwards... so I will have nowhere to stash my stuff if I go to the pop up shop beforehand...Merkin Baller said:
According to the news release, the pop up shop will be the only place to buy PJ merch.my2hands said:any idea if security will let people in the festival with tubes? making a day trip and won't have a choice if I buy prints
There will be no PJ merch sold at the show, so I wouldn't bother bringing your tube.
No point in going to the shop for me if I can't take a tube into the festival... and something tells me that tubes will not be permitted in the venue

This opens tomorrow, right?
The announcement reads inventory will be held back Monday - Sunday, but I don't think it's really open for another 24 hours.0 -
Seriously, people cannot be queuing already for the pop up shop. If they are, then that is truly insane.0

Will there be a flyer of sorts like Wrigley to show what is available for purchase?0
-
I'm sure 10club will send out an email later this afternoon. From a fan who was @ Easy Street Records on Saturday .. "Bierman said that they will have a lot of "pretty cool stuff"." .. Can't wait!!cmalisze said:Will there be a flyer of sorts like Wrigley to show what is available for purchase?

anyone else have a slight problem with the band selling merch for 6 days at an event to promote social awareness about extreme poverty?
people standing in lines for hours to buy meaningless products? are the proceeds benefitting any of the causes they are claiming to support, or is it all driven by profit for the band/fan club?
not trying to sound holier than thou, but this does leave a funny taste in my mouth when i start to think about it0 -
Good point. Real ? Is the band donating their time playing the show?? If so, then who cares about the pop shop.my2hands said:anyone else have a slight problem with the band selling merch for 6 days at an event to promote social awareness about extreme poverty?

you're not wrong my2hands. I struggle with whole concept of Global Citizen. The week of merch (to compensate for the absence of a merch tent at the venue) just adds on to it.NYC 06/24/08-Auckland 11/27/09-Chch 11/29/09-Newark 05/18/10-Atlanta 09/22/12-Chicago 07/19/13-Brooklyn 10/18/13 & 10/19/13-Hartford 10/25/13-Baltimore 10/27/13-Auckland 1/17/14-GC 1/19/14-Melbourne 1/24/14-Sydney 1/26/14-Amsterdam 6/16/14 & 6/17/14-Milan 6/20/14-Berlin 6/26/14-Leeds 7/8/14-Milton Keynes 7/11/14-St. Louis 10/3/14-NYC 9/26/15

We're expecting lines for merch at 11am on a weekday? Should I even bother popping over after work or will it all be sold out?DC '03 - Reading '04 - Philly '05 - Camden 1 '06 - DC '06 - E. Why not just ship them to purchasers and eliminate the brick and mortar costs? Why not just make supply = demand and eliminate the secondary market?benjs said:Just a thought...
1) Each day from Sunday-Friday, new items go on the Ten Club website. Items may only be picked up at the Volcom shop, and will not be shipped. Order confirmation page and photo ID required to pick up orders.
2) By the day after, orders are picked and set aside, like a ticketing will call. (i.e. day one orders are picked and ready for day two and onwards)
3) Any unreserved stock from the previous day gets released to the public in the store, in a separate lineup.
4) Unpicked items at the end of the event are refunded, and go on sale online.
Essentially, the shop becomes primarily a pickup location, Ten Club customers are preferred, and the insane lines will be to have your order fulfilled, rather than to get to the front and be disappointed.DC '03 - Reading '04 - Philly '05 - Camden 1 '06 - DC '06 - E. I only thought that part was necessary because of the spirit of a pop-up shop. Clearly, they're trying to reward being at a certain place at a certain time. Personally, I think that 'right place, right time' requirement is a bit silly, and would agree that it should just be a week-long online sale event.OceansJenny said:

I've been involved with (or at least known about the monetary side of) about ten charity events. When big acts were involved, their time was never free. I'd be absolutely shocked if PJ, Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, or Coldplay weren't profiting off of this event as it is. So, what's a little bit more money in their pockets? I understand where you're coming from, but Pearl Jam is a brand at the end of the day... MSNBC's watermark will be at the bottom of the live stream, all will know who the sponsors are of the event, merchandise at the shows will reinforce that. Sadly, people need monetary incentive to do good deeds for the most part.my2hands said:anyone else have a slight problem with the band selling merch for 6 days at an event to promote social awareness about extreme poverty?

Any mention of the proceeds going to global citizen? This is going to be nuts.
It would be great to know more about what will be offered for sale.
Why would they limit retail sales?
I would be absolutely shocked if PJ was getting their normal fee for a concert. Rumor has it they get $2m a festival. Id guess the organizers buy some carbon credits or some other arrangement to cover the band's costs.benjs said:

There is no way the VIP sales could cover the fees for PJ, Coldplay and Beyonce.0
