This woman's lawyer is a bigger douche bag than she is. He just compared this woman to Martin Luther King Jr. What a fucktard.

This is a joke, right? One article I read states, "Davis' lawyer, Roger Gannam, said it was the first time in history an American citizen has been jailed for believing that marriage is a union between one man and one woman. He compared her willingness to accept imprisonment to what Martin Luther King Jr. did to advance civil rights."

    The nerve! The irony!
Seems pretty comparable, if not more important than mlk imo. This is groundbreaking. She's a martyr in the current times.
You think a bigot who lays her bigotry on God and who refuses to support equality for everyone, and who is pushing for continuing inequality under government and law, is comparable to, and maybe more important than, Martin Luther King, Jr??
    What the fuck??????
You call her a bigot, I call her a hero. She's doing Gods work, at least someone has the nerve to offend this overly pc society by sticking to what has been the law for ages. It changes overnight under Obama (which goes back to the fact that I believe he is gay and Michelle is a man) and suddenly everyone has to comply? These laws were in place for a reason, as its a SIN for two people of the same race to be married. The bible says it, not me.

And you're being borderline offensive with the what the fuck????? No need for that. It's another shot at me that doesn't need to be taken. I don't scream wtf when you say things I clearly disagree with.

Since you are all about debating posts, as you have admonished us for failing to do, I wonder why you haven't responded to the rebuttals to your "Michelle is a man" theory?

    Also, please answer this question:
    Do you support Sharia law?
Shouldn't Muslims be allowed to use their deeply held religious convictions to deny women drivers licenses at the BMV?
No idea what you're referring to, sorry
How does Michelle have a bulge if she had a sex change operation in the 80's?
What is your response to the photos of Michelle as a child, clearly her, clearly a girl?

Again, you claim to be about debating posts and not sinking to our level, so pony up!

Do you support Sharia law? Do you support Muslim officials in the government denying drivers licenses to women, marriage licenses to gays, and gun permits to anyone because of their deeply held religious beliefs?
Don't know Muslim law. Already said this once.
You don't need to know sharia law or anything at all about Muslims to answer the question.
If a Sharia Muslim who was a county clerk decided that women driving cars is against his or her religious beliefs, and refused to issue drivers licenses to women because of those strong religious beliefs, would you support that person for upholding their religious values even though it breaks the law? (Btw, I have no idea if Sharia Muslims might believe that or consoder doing that - this is purely hypothetical).

Likewise, if a person who refused to issue gun licenses to Americans because doing so is a part of their job for the county, for whihc they swore an oath, because it is their strong religious belief that guns are a tool of Satan and that any American owning a gun is going to hell, and that they'd be doing the Devil's work by issuing Americans their constitutional right to own a gun, would you stand up for that person's breaking of the law and defiance of the Constitution?

If you can't honestly say YES to either of these questions then I don't see how you can even have the nerve to show your support for the stupid woman from Kentucky here on these boards. If you say you don't understand what we're talking about or are somehow otherwise unable to answer these questions like you already tried to do, then I either don't see how you even have the nerve to post your opinion here, or think you might want to speak to a doctor, because something must be wrong.

That's racist and offensive. Every time I say something bothers me you do it more. I don't get why that's fun...
Please explain why it is racist.
could it be because jesus is depicted as white when he was of middle eastern descent?

that would be like portraying buddah as a white dude, or muhammad as a white dude, or reagan as a black dude.
Yes. Thank you for answering for me. We all know Jesus was brown skinned. He came from the Middle East!
So which Christian church in America are you a member of that depicts Jesus as a brown dude?

  • Then I'm a bully because that is asinine.

Must be fun to keep picking on me. Get a life, and leave me alone. If you want to reply to my post, do so, quit with the insults. It's just sad.
Every single thing you post on these boards is combative and down-putting to others. Don't sit here and cry victim when you're just as guilty.
Where have I went out of my way to insult, not debate? I haven't. Many have piled it on to me here for having different beliefs than theirs. I haven't attacked anyone. I share my opinions. That's what we do. He said "well I'm a bully because your post is asinine" after I said it hurt my feelings to say what he said, he said, well too bad! I'll say it again! And then did so. If you can't see that as bullying then you're just as guilty.

The Romans did this to Jesus as well. It's Sunday, I am in full worship mode, and yet you still attack me, my beliefs, my religion, and sexuality. Clearly bullying and not just discussing. I have my Christian Rock tunes playing, a little temple of the dog thrown in and relaxing. I enjoy sharing opinions here so please ease up. Thanks! Have a great "Son"day!
Did you just compare yourself to jesus?

You are not debating anything. The verbal diarrhea you are spewing has no factual basis at all. Spare us all the same old routine. I think even jesus would laugh at some of the shit youve posted.

    Seriously??!!
I go out for a nice 2 hour 45 mile bike ride and I come back to 41 new posts on this thread!!!

    It's a beautiful day people
    Go outside
    Take a walk
    Ride a bike
    Etc etc

Then come back and ask JAG more questions to try and get her to prove her conspiracy theories.

Which we all know that she cant won't be able to do.

    :dizzy:

Oh how I wish I could! I'm home sick with some bug that got me yesterday (compounded by a migraine headache this morning) and a bit desperate to recover quickly with a book fair coming up. But I will say it looks beautiful outside my window!

OK, now with my whining done with here's a question: Should we allow the religious opinion of a few be the focus of this issue? I understand that Davis did what she did based on her religious beliefs (which many people of faith will argue strongly against). But either way, that is irrelevant. Davis should have quit her job if she was not willing to do it properly. She should have taken her beef with gay marriage elsewhere. And besides, she bases her opinions on a few Bible verses that condemn homosexual relations. But despite what some literalists will say, the Bible is not always right, sometimes the words are better understood contextually and all of them were written by people which leaves a lot of room for error.

About 35 years ago my closest little group of friends all became born-again Christians. They were very sincere in their beliefs and strongly urged me to take up their way (a.k. "One Way" or "The Way"). I tried my hardest to see if they were on to something. I read the entire Bible, some parts of it several times. I went to Bible study classes for a few years and attended a Bible church each week. I read C.S. Lewis' religious books, Ray Stedman, Josh McDowell and others. I listed to Barry McGuire, Randy Stonehill and Larry Norman records. In the end, it just didn't add up. I met several good, sincere people but my ultimate conclusion was that these people were following a path that relied too heavily on blind acceptance and emotion rather than reason. These were good loving people almost all of whom today would support gay marriage. I walked away a non-believer, kept most of those friendships and the loving aspects of who they were/are and dismissed the rest as myth. I'm guessing Davis is much more steeped in hard-core blind belief, homophobia and hatred and her religion dwells in a much darker place than what I experienced. It's just as well that she outed herself gave up her job.

Hedo is our most diplomatic, understanding, and thoughtful train member. She is the least likely to be offensive or make personal attacks and the first to put those who do in check.
If Hedo thinks JAG is playing the victim card unduly, and being confrontational...There's something to it!

Thanks for this. I'm just not sure how she gets from the situation she is currently in (which, if I understand correctly, is in custody as she has refused to follow a judge's order relating to a federal statute) to the one suggested (in which she has a legal remedy on the state level). Would she have to first agree to sign that she would issue the licenses in order to get released, then apply for the exemption under state law?

Not that you asked me, but I think equality and human rights are really important. If there is a law that keeps people from having the right to equality under the law, in any context, it is a priority.
Plus, the inability to marry the same gender might not have affected you, but it certainly affected gay people who wanted to get married.

Why, and to what end? I understand neither the challenge nor what would come of doing so (mine was a default setting when I re-signed up in 2012, I think, and hasn't been altered since).

Goes back to my earlier comment to Nart. Not offensive - neither he nor the image he's chosen to accompany his words.

So many other ways people can and do express themselves. Character somehow always comes through.

Avatar? It doesn't matter much to me.

I find it hilarious that there are trolls on the internet with these "Davis is a democrat" gotcha posts like that's supposed to mean something and like they're for LGBT all of a sudden.

Yet most of them are okay with chickenhawk politicians with an R next to their name killing soldiers for Halliburton and denying benefits for soldiers while claiming they're the party that supports their troops. It says something when the only soldier they care about is one Clint Eastwood made a movie about.
