Really? Divorced three times but against gay marriage?!?!?

Just really chaps my hide that an ignorant ass can deny marriage licenses to gays after being divorced three times.. Freakin inbred. And Jindahl, Paul, Huckabee and any other presidential nominee that supports her should be removed from ballot as they will not represent fairly and haven't a clue what the constitution or this country is all about.

The support she has is far more disturbing than her individual ideas about this. One person is an idiot. Millions are kind of a sociological crisis.

For purposes of thread integrity are you saying you're only upset at her for not issuing marriage licenses to gays after being divorced three times herself?

    If so I don't see a problem.

I think she is just the pawn to get into the courts. Former dean or a professor of the liberty university law school formed a christian agenda law firm. They bypassed the state courts. Their arguement is gov beshear unlawfully ordered all clerks to issue licenses and the states printing office to redraw the licenses themselves to remove gender language.

I think what irritates me is the hypocrisy. I mean, we're all self-conflicted/acted to varying degrees, but most don't affect the life and livelihood of others.

Ah fuck it...it's her self-righteousness as an elected official, it's her screw-you face and attitude, and once again, her hair.

Perfectly stated, Callen. Love seems to take a back seat to dogma or religious bias way to often yet I've known many people of faith who would put love first. From what I've read about him, I'm pretty sure Jesus would agree to love first and foremest.

And people in positions that are government related- at any level- would do well to practice their religious beliefs where they belong- the church, temple, sacred spot in nature, card room, toilet, wherever- and stick with the business of doing their public and civil job. Which in this ladies case is issuing marriage licenses to those legally eligible which obviously she isn't doing. We don't need to hear someone say "I'm doing this for religious reasons"- not in the public domain. That just doesn't belong there. She would do well to either just do the job or quit and go work for her church or something. She's allowed her beliefs but not to let them interfere in this context.

I guess it depends who you look at as your nation's contemporaries when it comes to social progress....the US got this done before some south american countries, and ahead of most of africa, asia, the middle east, and old soviet bloc countries....but were one of the last holdouts among western/westernized nations.

  • She's a woman and has the right to choose. And she's choosing no. I applaud her for sticking to her beliefs regardless of what anyone else says.

And please don't sink to the personal level of attacking her appearance. That's just wrong.

Sure, sticking to your guns is admirable...unless your guns are bigots lol

She was elected to perform duties as a representative of the government. If she wanted to stand on a religious soap-box she should have become a member of the clergy. That is, of course, if her sect allows women to hold positions of power.

I'm not sure what her being a woman has to do with anything. This is about allowing ideology to interfere with and infringe upon the rights of others.

    As an elected official, yet.

(Still will never be a fan of that hair, much like the mushroom-headed shooter. Still, you're correct. Words and actions are much more worthy targets.)
  • She's another one that wants to impose her will& beliefs on others glad she's in jail she deserves it don't worry JAG Trump will soon be agreeing with you ....

Just a Girl, regardless of her super sexy appearance ,Fashion week outfit and deliciously stylish bangs. She does indeed have the right to think how she does.I applaud her moxy for standing up for what she believes, wether I think it's ridiculous or not.Its her right and it did take some balls.

The problem is as Hedo said ,she is an elected official who must by law follow the law.She cannot perform her job while being tainted by religious views when making desciscions. Its that pesky Church and State thing.
She clearly is a hypocrite hater who has no clue. But she has a right to her ignorance. The only thing that would make this story better is if while incarcerated they put her in a cell block with butch and her Lesbian friends.Im sure some jail house counseling would be just the ticket to enlightenment.

I don't normally judge appearances, but every once in a while the appearance seems like the embodiment of the ugliness inside... and that is true in this case.

But she was in fact imposing her beliefs on the willing deputy clerks by forbidding the issuance of marriage licenses. In effect imposing her personal belief on the county as a whole. THAT is not legal. Nor is it religious liberty. She is not in jail because she believes what she does. She is in jail for defying a lawful judicial order under the Constitution of the United States.

She is absolutely free to believe as she wishes and the Judge said as much. In that he falls in line with her thinking personally. However he is bound by the law as she is.

She was offered the opportunity to avoid jail if she allowed deputy clerks to issue the licenses. She chose to go to jail instead.

I respect her standing for her beliefs. But she isnt above the law.

This coming from someone who said Michelle Obama was a man in another thread.

As far as this whacked out woman, she's an elected official and needs to understand what a separation of church and state is. Religious freedom is for practicing any faith. Not denying others rights.
