What the fuck did he even pull that gun out for? Just saw this video. It really is sickening. Plain and simple, lack of training. Why is he opening this guys door before asking him to step out? He's got no warrant, there's no "lawful request" other than take your seat belt off.

What does he even trip on? I didn't really even see the car move. Stupidity.

I don't know Ohio, but it looked like there was a plate on the back of the car. Does Ohio have something that cars are required to have on the front? Like an excise sticker or something?

Ohio requires front and back plates.

Yeah I just watched, it happened so fast. Very sad. He was being polite and then bam, it's all over and a man is dead. I'm sure he was no angel, but he didn't deserve to die.

Not at all. I don't get what he saw in that split second to make him reach for his gun. His right hand was even on the roof of the car immediately before. He looked like Doc Holliday in Tombstone as fast as that was.

I think it was bad reaction just like most of these cases, this one is just particularly baffling.

Thankfully this officer was wearing a body camera.....if he wasn't.....who knows how the investigation plays out.

Maybe, hopefully, we are turning a corner and bad apples will be held accountable for their actions and on the flip side good cops will emboldened to call out the bad ones.

Couldn't be more accurate. Just Reading the article, there's definitely a question (in my mind) of why the car moved. But after watching the video, as I said before, I didn't even notice the car move. So I doubt it was relevant to why he murdered this dude.

In the video I watched, It was clear the guy started the car and tried to take off. Then the cop fired. I guess shooting him in the head was his way of getting him to stop.

Yeah. After the cop tries to open the door, the guy pulls it shut and starts the car. The car then ends up down the street and wrecked.

I did see him close the door. I didn't notice him start the car back up. Stupid move on his part, cost him his life. Does the cop shoot him if he doesnt? Who knows. But this cop is a jail bird.

Now, being on admin leave, I wonder if they dont fire him now, instead of keeping payroll and bennies in effect until he's convicted.
I would doubt the parents of students attending this university would support that kind of move.

Once the suspect tried to close his door, he broke the law. When he tried to flee he placed the cops life in danger. The shooting is justified.

Glad we have visual proof, so the masses can't scream racism!

Visual proof is what led to the officer being indicted...for murder. Without the video, the shooting would have mostly likely been ruled justifed.

I'll disagree, first for what reason did this person Dubose become a suspect? He may have tried to keep the door closed however he was STILL seat belted in the car. Second, the car sped off AFTER he was shot ONCE in the head. If the car was in drive that COULD be a reaction of his foot up against the gas pedal and continued forward till it came to rest against an obstruction on the sidewalk.

Please explain at what point was the police officers life was in danger. I cannot believe its after Dubose was shot ONCE IN THE HEAD. The officer appears to not be in direct path of the vehicle, he appears to be on the drivers side of vehicle and fell backwards after shooting the driver in the head once.

If this shooting was justified why did the officer state later he was dragged by this vehicle? Perhaps covering his tracks even though this shooting was being recorded. I'd like to know if there was a dashcam video from the officers car. That angle would be even more telling.

At least one other cops makes the same claim on the official report. That he SAW it go down. He backed up the version given by PERP. Another offered opinion on the PERPS clothing being scuffed , consistent with being "dragged".

So at least the one of these two officers of the peace need diciplined as well.

He wrote up , signed and filed a false official record of the events in question. Jailable.
