That was an unnecessary comment. I'm not sure who here is saying he's a racist cop. Yes I do think this could be an accidental shooting, however it in no way excuse this killing whether the victim was some other race.

He knew had done an unnecessary shooting, that's why he went into the narrative of him being dragged at least 3-4 times to sort of cover his tracks or to make give the appearance this shooting was justified.

Note it does appear he shot the victim once in the head THEN fell backwards maybe due to his action of the shooting.

    Peace
What is unnecessary? I mentioned it being accidental and the immediate reaction by someone was that I was making excuses. Nobody is talking about it. I think it was part of it.

I'm not believing that here are people here that doesn't think thisbisnt a racial issue.
The prosecutor thinks he did it out of anger. Drawing your gun and pointing it at someones head is not an accident. He may or may not have pulled the trigger on purpose, but he laid the groundwork for it to happen. I would hardly call that an accident.
What else would a prosecutor think?

    Exactly, accident doesn't really qualify.

Well, yes, accident does qualify. And I didn't say shouldn't be charged. He should.

I was speaking of the comment that said the cop was racist and wanted to kill a black guy. I could be mistaken about what you said but I didn't think that needed to be said. Accidental shooting or not this former officer was very negligent and has to be prosecuted for at the very least manslaughter.

I don't assume he's a racist, but even if he is, I don't think that has to do with why he used his gun the way he did. I think that is all about seriously misusing his firearm. It could have something to do with training, but that couldn't be all it is. Even someone with no training at all wouldn't normally murder someone so readily. So if I had to simply guess, my guess would be that the cop is either a gun-happy idiot or a person incapable of properly judging the severity of a threat, or maybe just a complete spaz who can't manage his own thought processes once he's under any kind of stress. In any of those cases, that's not the kind of person we want in a police uniform.
So some people think what? That he accidentally shot the man? The gun shouldn't have even been drawn and pointed at his head with his finger on the trigger in the first place.

But is it truly an accident if he drew his gun, had his finger on the trigger, and had it pointed at his head at close range, even if he did trip and squeeze the trigger? I don't think so. Any idiot with the most rudimentary gun education knows that you don't point a loaded weapon at someone's head, with the safety off, and your finger on the trigger, if you don't plan on killing them. And I think it's fair to assume that his training at least got him that far.

And the the "slip, or trip" combined with poor training, combined with not being able to assess a threat combined with the guy starting the car played a part in this tragedy.

Either way. The guy is and should rot in jail for a while.

This is all really semantics....but, I will use this analogy, because this is how I see it. If some guy drank a case of beer, jumped in his truck and due to his impairment swerved head on into oncoming traffic and killed your family.......would you still consider that an accident?

Of course not. This is a not even apples to oranges. It's earthworms and carpet. What the hell does a drunk driver have to do with this? Was the cop drunk or impaired? Was the victim?

It's possible to accidentally shoot someone.

I don't know what we are debating anyway. Other than one poster, we all think he should go to jail.

The cops life was in danger. He protected it.

You have a gun. I'm driving towards you. Do you let me run over you or do you shoot me? Simple answer here.

He probably should of said it was an accident when he tripped then. Not that he was being dragged and so he shot him. He doesn't make it sound like an accident.

I erred earlier about the other two cops. At the scene they seemed to back the PERP. Statements at the station to investigators were more in line with actual recorded events. Grand jury didnt indict them. remain on admin leave to this point. Ohio FOP has filed a grievance related to procedure used or lack thereof in firing by the university.

As of now, PERP is free on million dollar bond. will have to check if this was cash or 10%.

It's always 10% isn't it? Nobody ever has to come up with the full amount that is set by the judge do they?

he or someone posted 10%. I would expect his house was used as security to a bondsman.
