Seems its a routine thing in American media to ask a "gotcha question" and then run with the results. Like you mentioned earlier about the Mcain arab/incident question. (I have seen that video)
Trump was taken aback because not once has he said anything supporting the questioners belief.
So the silence speaks volumes yes. Sit down you loser (is probably what he meant to say) but couldn't find the words.
Now look at the American media -Headlines are everywhere about this. Why?
I personally don't answer bullshit, do you?

  • He's the one that chose to do a townhall format. What does he expect? Goes back to the root of the problem. The guy couldn't give you a definitive answer on anything.

Maybe he is just tired of the whole muslim being problems thing.
I mean, America has more to worry about right?

Trump is never at a loss for words. If he didn't say anything to counteract that comment, it's because he didn't want to.

Trump is a Vaudeville Act only instead of laughing, a lot of people are cheering. And to make matters worse, this kind of misplaced, faked out, imprudent support makes the rest of us in the U.S. look like a bunch of dipshits. I can't wait for this circus to leave town.

Actually, Trump was one of the most vocal birthers, and has said many things supporting the questioners belief.

    And yes, I answer bullshit.
Not answering it is letting it exist, I grab a shovel and clean it up instead of stepping over it and leaving it to draw flies.

Just goes to show that whatever you say or not say will get some peoples panties in a bunch.
Now he is getting controversy and headlines for not saying anything.

"The Republican presidential candidate, who routinely attracts press with his biting put-downs, said this is the first time he caused controversy by not saying something."
    Sheesh

Isn't his obligation as a serious contender to let everyone know that the question was absolutely ridiculous? McCain encountered the same thing in 08 and did just that. Called a spade a spade. Be real.
    No.
He is a serious contender because everyone seems to forget that there are no friends in business.
    Friendship comes after.
He is no ones friend while in the race.

So, being no one's friend means letting racist, xenophobic, ignorant and moronic questions and comments slide?
    Yes.
If you are not friends then you can say as much or as little to a person as you want.
Well I guess I place a much higher value on truth, reason, understanding, and compassion than the average Trump supporter.
McCain was not Obama's friend either, but when someone opened their mouth and poured forth moronic dung, McCain called them out on their idiotic bullshit with class.
Trump wouldn't know class if it bit him in the ass.
But the guy asking the question was a trump supporter.
    His shirt said so.
Weird question to ask from a supporter wouldn't you think?
Would kind of take you aback.
I don't follow. That is exactly the sort of no information voter that supports Trump, and Trump is not dumb enough to miss what demographics support him.
On top of that, Trump was one of the leading "birthers" that created and buoyed the ignorant nonsense this hick was spouting, so why on Earth would he be taken aback?
    His silence speaks volumes.
Smart move on his part. His response was as well.

This is not a gotcha moment at all.

What silence are we talking about btw? He wasn't silent. He did answer the question. He answered by saying he will be looking at a lot of things. I took his reply as meaning that getting rid of Muslims is something he might actually consider, or at least to mean that he didn't think it was such a crazy thing to think about. I thought his response was idiotic and weak, and spoke volumes.

He backtracked a bit today and said he took it as "radical Muslims" then went on to say he has lots of Muslim friends and loves them, but there is a radical Muslim problem in the world.
  • did he say he was huge with the muslims? that they love him? that he has terrific plans for the muslims?
