Why am I here? Why are you here? Why is anybody here? I think it was Jean-Paul Sartre who once said... how do you spell spell Sartre? [soldier slaps him] Owww... and let that be a lesson to you.
Spies Like Us -1985
Do you know what it's like to fall in the mud and get kicked... in the head... with an iron boot? Of course you don't, no one does. It never happens. Sorry, Ted, that's a dumb question... skip that.
I'm in it for the annual 7", the Deep mag, the exclusive items, the opportunity for the best tickets in the house, and the ability to interact with everyone here.
Not many chances in life to be a part of something great. Plenty of good out there, but greatness is rare. Pearl Jam is great and being in 10 Club (or Vitalogy Health Club as it was called when I joined) means I'm a part of it.
Because I LOVE watching someone here win the lottery for tickets, tickets that 50000 people were trying for. Tickets where they had a .05% chance of winning.
I love seeing that same person WIN those tickets... And then come on this board and still BEG for GA seats!.....
Take me piece by piece..... Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
i dont care about what 10c offers for membership im a member cos of the friends, the community ,and show my support to the band.. i dont care if they have fan club tickets if they selling socks and pins for memebrs only with or with out holiday single....thats all stuff.... and being member and post here....

I do it because the 10c has a monopoly on PJ. They get access to the best tickets at most (if not all) PJ concerts. You're at a severe disadvantage trying to go through TM only (instead of as a backup plan). 10c also has exclusive access to a fair amount of Pearl Jam Merch (especially limited edition vinyl). As a Pearl Jam fan, no matter how bad its run, there's nowhere else to get that stuff.
I've strongly considered dropping my membership from Analog to Digital (it's worth $20/yr to keep my seniority in case I end up in seated tickets). I buy the Analog membership solely for the xmas single. If I want a show I prefer to by the CD (I'm analogish, I like to collect). The coupon only works for mp3 (or a surcharge for FLAC). I'm analog, I like better quality, kick in the FLAC for free . The yearly merch (stickers, ugly shirt etc..) immediately get turfed into the closet. I've strong though about only paying $20 a year and trying to find alternate means to acquire the xmas singles (ebay, ten club sale etc..). I should be able to score one every year for less than $30 right?
It still goes back to the 10c has a monopoly on things Pearl Jam. There's no competitor so you keep active with the 10c. I use other fan clubs. I join the Metallica one on years they tour around here and let it lapse in between (they have no senoirity clause). I did the same thing for U2 but have kept it active for the past few years because they've been giving out interesting fan club items (live albums, hardcover book w/ cd, double 10" live vinyl etc..). The U2 Fan Club is $10/yr cheaper than 10c (It's $50 in the first year and $40 for renewal). It was a little rough when they switched from propaganda (which was a smaller operation like 10c) to a FanFire operated fan club, but it's so smooth now.
The Ten Club does some stuff right, but it also feels like it's fan unfriendly a lot too. I always blame it on the fact their a small operation, but that doesn't mean they couldn't ramp it up a bit.
Great tickets, first crack at tickets, exclusive merch, holiday singles, Vic Theater show, online sale for show posters, mystery sales, giveaways - those would be my reasons. The point would be that 10c gives better opportunities and options for Pearl Jam fans than any other avenue I can think of.
I'm here until Benaroya Hall gets reissued on vinyl
