you get a vinyl single. A bootleg download. Stickers/print/t-shirt (face it, most of us are nerds for that crap). Exclusive member merch... ticket opportunities. Maintain seniority (which still matters to a degree). Message Pit.
Seniority is still a big deal if you don't want to fight the hassle of camping out for GA to get a good spot, as well as standing for hours with no option of sitting down. Geez I sound old but don't discount getting good seats if you want seats. My wife joined a year after I did and its interesting to see what difference just a year makes.
Also the boards are easier to keep up with than all the stream of overload on Facebook...
And the Tacos and Gyros are awesome to boot!!!

My main reason is the vinyl but of course got locked out of mystery vinyl, too late to my email on Sevens, found out I wasn't getting 10C emails when Vault 2 vinyl came out, so haven't done that well over the years on getting the PJ Vinyl other than the stuff that's still available in the shop today, 3 black LBs, 2 Backspacers, 1 Moonlander and the Xmas singles. My luck would have got some combination of those with the Mystery Vinyl anyway.

That's the tough part. You generally need to be in the 10c to access to the limited vinyl merch, but it's so hard to get in on it, that it probably aggravates more 10c members than it pleases. They either announce it at a random time of day when you didn't check online, or they they announce it weeks in advance and the weight of everyone trying to get it at the same time brings the website down.
It's tough collecting PJ stuff :( Especially vinyl.
Best thing the 10c ever did was make this board members only
+1

LOL! Fuck those tags, haha! I was an ANALOG member until this year, dropped to DIGITAL membership. Member since 1996, same 153XXX number. Agree, seniority in ticket allocation was good back in the day... 1998 tour, front GA section, and the few tours they did seats on the floor. But now... no real point. The vinyl is always cool, but you can pick them up cheap now anyways, piggyback it onto a t-shirt order or something. Only missing the 1991 one, btw (if anyone is charitable, haha).
So yeah, still a member, just a DIGI one here on in!
PJ - Sydney 1998; Sydney 2003; Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle 2006; Melbourne, Sydney 2009; Gold Coast, Melbourne, Sydney 2014.
EV - Canberra, Newcastle, Sydney 2011; Sydney 2014.
TBH, there really isn't a reason unless you collect vinyl...even then, it's virtually impossible to get anything limited and if you really want something, you'll find it on eBay. I like because I've been a member so long...and its supporting the band above and beyond.
I wish they would do more lottery type things for items like mystery vinyls or something that crashes the website,,,you know...every time?
I Know All The Rules But The Rules Do Not Know Me.
I'm in the 10c so all my friends who aren't can laugh at me.
Some friends ! I don't get this statement. What's so funny about being in fanclub supporting such a great band, that for some have changed their life for the better. It always seems like people have to have a excuse to like the band. I don't feel like it needs to be embarrassing.
To me, 40 bucks per year is nothing really. I can spend that much in a day on nothing. It's exactly what it is, a club where like minded people can come together and share a common interest. That is worth the money

No worries, sarcasm usually doesn't read very well on a message board.

That's funny, because I'm usually full of sarcasm. Guess I got a taste of my own medicine.
I still stand by my statement though. Some people do act strange when you tell them your a fan and in a fanclub ,so I can see where the joke is coming from. I just think it's dumb for them to think that, that's all
1. Having the ability to help someone through a terrible time, see the love and support given by fellow fans and know it made a difference.
2. See the incredible generosity of fellow fans and see that even peeps who don't have much can and will come out in support when major disasters strike.
3. Again, nice to know when a fellow fan is in need, this community rallies to their cause and as others donate PJ related stuff, some folks score a coveted item and are beside themselves. A win-win, really.
4. Comedic relief. I mean really, who hasn't come on here when having a shitty, shitty day to either laugh out loud at something they read, smiled because of the generosity being shown or been uplifted by a PM from someone you never met and may only know as an avatar and writing style?
For less than a dollar per week you get all of this and then some. If you're not a member, you ain't living.

So if a person joined 5 years before, does that mean they like the band 5x more than me?
Nope. It always cracks me up seeing people whine about 10C.
Its $20. If thats too much then you have much bigger problems than being in the 10C
