Again, all I asked was what I thought was a legitimate question. One I guess I shouldn't have asked unless I posted about previous incidences referenced in my question. And then I'm asked if my heart has met my mind. What did you mean by that?
And this is happening the week the L.A. riots turn 23 years old. These two wrongs make no right. Going to the radical left of Noam Chomsky is just as bad as going to the right of Dick Cheney. Residents need to use their heads and common sense ffs.
I hope I'm reading this wrong, as I didn't hear much here about the other incidents mentioned. Did you post about them?
Should I not be pissed off about this, or does it need to be justified to some - setting shit on fire and stealing from your neighbors?
Jesus. People can speak their mind about shit like this without being taken to task with "oh yeah, what about when THIS happened?" types of posts.
Again, really hope I misconstrued, otherwise, come the fuck on.
Does it need to be reminded why the riots happened? The death of a man dragged by police and then thrown around in their vehicle under questionable circumstances? And then the refusal of police to explain how he died in police custody? The consistent bad reputation of the Baltimore PD and their history of brutality? It's ALL related.

Just pointing out the bias. No need to get emotional about it. I thought I asked a legitimate question.
Man, I love the labels tossed around here lately. Of course your question was fine and note I asked if I got it correctly.
Almost expected a little "there there" pat on the head with that emotional comment nonsense.
God forbid heart meets mind.
Has yours not?
Gonna let this silly shit go. It's not about squabbling pettiness.
We have seen where getting emotional in these forums lead to nothing but trouble, steering away from the topic altogether and getting way too personal. But we're all too familiar with that...
I started this thread, as I said last night, because rioting in an American city is a valid topic of discussion here on AMT. I make no apologies for that as I am not at all sorry some people have a problem with it.
This thread a perfect example of whites living their lucky ass lives and looking down at the poor and weak and getting the superiority bug.
Again you aren't special. You aren't smarter. Your definitely not more aware or enlightened. Your just lucky.
Rather than looking at things and saying hmmm what the FK and why and how to change things you sit behind your keyboards in your safe little white neighborhoods and stroke yourselves
Think of the human condition along with some history of human behavior, and whites as well, and you will not only understand "Baltimore" but maybe think what we can do as humans to prevent situations such as this.
But alas stroking ones insecurities is easier and I expect from observing human behavior that the stroking and stroking each other will continue. Just get your hanky and windex before hand.
It should not be about picking sides here what the rioters did is completely wrong burning your own community down is down right deplorable , they should all be arrested ...It speaks to the mentality of these kids ...
the rioting and looting has little to do with the death of Gray. it's just a bunch of thug gang bangers taking advantage of the situation for their own agenda.

It's not that you shouldn't be pissed, or that this thread shouldn't exist. The point is that people should be asking themselves why the reaction to a murder is condemned more heavily than the murder. People here should recognize that their selective outrage is being expressed in the exact same manner as it is by the openly racist rubes of Facebook, Twitter, and the whole spectrum of social media. It isn't on Halifax to have started threads about white sports riots, because he didn't jump into this thread to rant about how terrible it is. It is up to those of you who did to ask yourselves why it is never a big story in the media, on social media, or on these boards when riots happen by young white men due to sports, but riots in reaponse to police murdering citizens bring out denouncers by the truckload.

Wow. Just wow.
We should be thankful for those who ride such high moral horses and show us lucky ass whites in our safe little white neighborhoods the error of our ways while we stroke ourselves.

The failure for some here to not recognize the hypocrisy is interesting.
I can recognize what you're calling hypocrisy, but I would argue that it exists all over the board and we have all been guilty of it. We discuss variations of "The West" vs "Muslim Extremism" all the time, and Israel over and over again, and all of it is important. But did anyone start a thread about the university attacks in Kenya? I didn't see it if they did. We have a thread about the drought in California - and we should - but what about the earthquake in Nepal? This hypocrisy you speak of is everywhere. The specific charge here is too selectively placed to not ring hollow.

Guess didn't sink in.
There you go again talking down to everyone. But hey, you keep going on with your generalizations of people who are upset by a fucking riot. You don't know shit about me....but keep telling yourself that you do.
To make it clear, I have no problem with the subject of the thread. It's the comments within it that are so over the top with outrage that I find interesting.

I disagree with you. I'm not lucky. I worked hard for what I have. Call it what you want, but I can say with 100% certainty that I will not EVER feel the need to destroy my local pharmacy if someone I know is killed. Grow up.
Edit: The grow up comment is intended for the criminals that are doing the rioting, not anyone here.

I agree, and I'm sure there is hypocrisy throughout the AMT on almost every subject, I'm sure I'm guilty of it often. You are more than welcome to call me out on my hypocrisy when you see it, I welcome it. So because I see it here and call it out makes it any less true?
Why must some get so defensive when they are called out on it?
Because I would argue selectively charging someone with something is doing so unfairly and, sometimes, dishonestly. Is hypocrisy truly the issue here, or is that some just don't like the discussion?
