No idea what it's like for Europe. I only know about Canada. And 10C is doing it wrong for Canadians compared to other comparable organizations.

Haha. The environmental side of it is probably what pisses me off the most. They say they use Mail Innovations because the service is better for the environment. This was so important to them that they used a more expensive service and passed the increase onto the members. Meanwhile, Mail Innovations is driving and flying our packages back and forth across the country with no apparent plan. It's like all of their pilots and drivers are indefinitely and hopelessly lost without a map. People's packages are literally passing their city two or three times, skirting their state and going two states over, and then coming backwards to finally arrive at the destination, lol.... I cannot imagine a more environmentally IRRESPONSIBLE way for a company to do it.

Lol I need some popcorn for this shit :)

It really has nothing to do with where your package starts and where it is to end up, unfortunately. If it was that simple I would understand your point. Unfortunately, there are hubs in certain places around the country, and it doesn't make sense economically or environmentally to have 1 vehicle transport 1 package to its destination. There simply isn't the kind of infrastructure to give a single package it's own route. Kind of like how you have to fly to Chicago before you can connect a flight to NY. They have to group packages by zones and they get a huge amount of items to one zone, which then breaks down those packages and distributes them to other zones, which in turn serve smaller areas. So unfortunately with millions of items zigzagging the continent every day, the best the computers can do is to get them into single areas which serve smaller areas.

As for Canada's lack of tracking I don't know what to tell you other than unfortunately life isn't fair all the time :) Getting super pissed off at 10c though for something like this seems a bit excessive. Have you ever not received an item from 10c? Does an extra $15 make you miss a meal or keep you from buying your daughter a new notebook for school? Seems like it's not really as big a deal as you're making it out to be.

I have NEVER paid duty on anything that was $50 or less and marked as goods. So either Canada Customs NEVER does its job properly, or that is not accurate. From what Zod says, I guess no one at Customs cares when it's less than a certain amount.

Be that as it may, whereas you're referencing your personal experiences I was referencing the CBSA's published protocols. As I previously said, it's up to each individual agent to either enforce those protocols or disregard them for any number of reasons.

Speaking of the CBSA, I remember as I was returning home from '08 shows pulling up to the border and it just so happened the agent was a massive fan of the band. She had a 10 minute conversation with us as we just sat parked next to her booth about how during the '05 tour she made a point of requesting duty at the airport at a specific time so when the band landed in Canada she could be selected to board their plane for customs clearance and a personal meet and greet.
To quote the 10C from Newsletter #8: "Please understand we have a lot of members and it is very hard to please everybody. If you are one of those unhappy people...please call 1-900-IDN-TCAR."

I'm actually not super pissed off at 10C. Love 10C. I'm just complaining about this one thing. I'm not actually mad, just expressive. ;)
However, I don't think it's fair to bring up what that money might mean to me or anyone. It's kind of a green light for all businesses to charge excessively.

Select Track by Reference, then "Mail Innovations", then enter your order confirmation number followed by 1. You get some results on the next page, but copy the longer tracking number under "Tracking detail" and use that to get further results.

Seems to work somehow for overseas orders too, mine is also showing Fontana, CA at the moment. The weight is still the original 2,2 pounds fwiw.

In case you're wondering why Fontana, CA. It is close to LA/Ontario International Airport which is a major hub for UPS.

My international tracking has updated. Now reads:
    Fontana, CA, United States
04/27/2015 11:22 P.M. Package processed by UPS Mail Innovations origin facility
04/27/2015 10:08 P.M. Package received for processing by UPS Mail Innovations
    United States
04/20/2015 8:05 P.M. Shipment information received by UPS Mail Innovations

    Weight still shows 2.2lbs.

Most likely the weight will not be updated for international packages. It is not UPS who will deliver all the way through. And most likely the tracking will not show all the steps. The package will be thrown into an airplane heading for europe and the next thing you'll see is when the package has arrived.

Thanks for the tip on the number under tracking detail. I was wondering why it wasn't updating.

Mine's still there too. Don't be surprised if it just stays like that until it arrives at your door. It could still update, but who knows. I would guess that they aren't actually still in Fontana, but again, you never know. It is Mail Innovations after all.

I don't think I've ever paid attention to how long items usually take to get here. How long does it take to get to Canada typically?
