Thats just stupid. This notion of "higher expectations" for elected officials is getting out of hand.oftenreading said:

Is she supposed to just sit there and take a woman talking shit to her? Espn isn't going to fire her. And athletes won't boycott interviews with her. I'm sure they have the whole story.
If her comments were unsolicited and she unloaded on some poor woman behind a counter... she's a douche of the highest order. If she was retrieving her vehicle after being towed... and dealing with comments about her hair... then I'm not inclined to burn her at the stake because she didn't take the high road.
Apparently in BC our Minister of Transportation got a speeding ticket. Some people are calling for him to lose his Cabinet position. The NDP transportation critic claims to be "shocked" that he would be speeding. Really, people?
Now, i just watched the video (couldnt watch it at work, but read the transcript). Video tells a slightly different story. I am surprised no one previously mentioned that the video is obviously heavily edited. It shows nearly nothing of the clerks statements.
However, i may have reacted like she did many years ago when i was more inclined to react, as opposed to now of learning just to let the baby have his bottle, as it were. Maybe the clerk instigated it, maybe Britt did. Either way, the transcript painted a much worse picture than the video did. I should have watched it before commenting. Not only should she not be fired, she shouldnt even have been suspended.

I don't care what was being said to her. Of someone is bad mouthing you, it's reasonable to say something like "fuck you" or "what the fuck is wrong with you, are you crazy?" or "let me talk to your manager". To go off babbling about her education like that is a whole other ball of wax. That those particular elitist things she said actually resided in her brain at all tell me that she's a pretty rotten human being, not to mention the tone. I don't know any nice people who can sound like that, lol. And it all came rolling out slick as shit. Those were not new thoughts. She's clearly been nurturing that nasty elitist attitude for a long time.Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Doesn't mean she should be fired. There are a lot of rotten human beings in the world. If they all got fired tomorrow, Monday would be a bad day world wide.PJ_Soul said:I don't care what was being said to her. Yeah, there are a lot of rotten human beings in the world... and most of them control it around clients. She didn't (since her "clients" are the people who watch her on camera). That's why she should be fired. If some office manager was caught acting like that where customers could witness it, he'd probably be fired too.Last-12-Exit said:

And as far as rotten human beings go... there's a lot worse and a lot more diabolical that actually affect society dramatically more than saying some shitty things to a person that gets under their skin.Last-12-Exit said:

Nobody is apologizing for her douchiness by the way... I think people are just offering perspective. The more I think about this... especially considering what other countries consider problems... it's a non issue."My brain's a good brain!"0 -
Of course. She didn't murder or torture or steal or attack. But that is not where I set my bar.Thirty Bills Unpaid said:

I was talking more along the lines of people who like to rip other people off or lie or cheat versus downright, dirty rotten losers.PJ_Soul said:

Yeah... i included steal in there. That kind of thing. I don't feel like other people's bad deeds diminish the shitiness of this woman or her deserving to be fired.Thirty Bills Unpaid said:

Apples to oranges, really? You really think that comparing an intentional degradation of another person on camera is the same as a speeding ticket?oftenreading said:

And really. It's a job. Everyone gets fired at least once in their lives, it's not the end of the world like some is making it out to be. Good God.
What I think is ridiculous is the ESPN reporter getting suspended for having a public debate defending evolution with a colleague who's a creationist (whom didn't get suspended for doing the same thing, albeit the other side of the debate).Post edited by backseatLover12 on0 -
I wonder if those supporting this chick would do the same if she had the looks of a horse.0

I didn't say they were the same; I suggested that in my opinion calling for termination is excessive in both cases.backseatLover12 said:

And not sure what you mean by emphasizing "on camera". She didn't do it in the usual sense of "on camera", which I would take to mean while being deliberately filmed doing an interview, performance, etc. I imagine her company would have a different reaction to that as it would have occurred during her performance of her job.
In this situation I don't think it matters at all whether she was "on camera" - it would be just as bad, in my eyes, if she spoke this way to customer service personnel in complete privacy. I'm not condoning her behaviour, just saying I don't think it warrants being fired.

Do you understand that when you work especially in the public eye, that you are representing your company at all times? Ever wonder why workplaces look at Facebook profiles of their employees? Twitter profiles? This chick the public face of ESPN and this makes them look bad. They may merely suspend her and tell her not to act like her spoiled and nasty self publicly again and let her have her job, fine. But the public already knows what a skank she is.0

Between that last sentence and your ridiculous notion that someone would defend her based on her looks, it seems to me that you could be way more judgmental than this repoorter ever was. The only difference is you're not a quasi celebrity.backseatLover12 said:Do you understand that when you work especially in the public eye, that you are representing your company at all times?
