100 pushups

Anyone ever check this out? And I really don't want to hear from any of you young kids, who are in great shape. Hahaha
I want to hear from any old timers, who like myself, have seen better days.

I have finished week 2
I have doubled my pushups in 2 weeks. Im happy
I am also throwing in some cardio with the exercise bike.

    I hear ya loud and clear!!

    I wanted to build up my "core strength", and I figured this was perfect, before I started adding on other types of workouts. My days of going to a gym are long gone. I have the exercise bike, I have my heavy bag, and I have my free weights. But before I could even think of doing anything, I knew damned well I just needed to build up some strength and stamina. In 90 days the swimming pool down the street opens up, and I will once again be able to swim my laps before going to work.

    Do the initial test. See where you stand. And then have some Aleve close by. Because tomorrow you will feel like you have been hit by a truck!

    I don't like working out at a gym. I have no excuse for not doing it, really. There's a fitness center down the hall from me and as a county employee I can use it free but I never do. Pretty embarrassing! :blush:

    I like to walk and have plenty of opportunities for that. I could really take it up a notch though, like wearing ankle weights. And I know what you're saying, Speedy. If I'm ever going to get more serious about it, I need to work on my core strength.

    Great job speedy.Nothing cuts the pecs and triceps quite like push ups.I usually do 150 on days I don't lift.When you are ready to push the envelope a bit ,after you have mastered your push ups,try mixing in some sets using elevated legs,Wider and narrower hand positions and what's really challenging use an unstable platform like a Bosu ball or exercise balls.This really forces the body to stabilize the core so you are not just building and toning but also helping everything in between and it helps posture. Keep with it.Awesome stuff.

    I'm a girl so pushups have always been nearly impossible. But I dated a guy once and he used to give me a hard time about only doing "girl" pushups so I was determined to learn. (He's played football in h.s. so he was in great shape.) By the time we broke up I could probably do 12. Whoop de whoop.
    (I do a bike and a treadmill and a weight machine and some DVD stuff.)

    I'm in terrible shape after being on my ass recovering from major ankle/foot reconstruction surgery for 5 months. I'll give myself the test on how many push ups and sit ups I can do. This I believe will be my inspiration to get back in shape. Fighting a cold now but no more EXCUSES.

    just maxed out on eleven true form pushups...used to get well over 50

    Holy shit. Just maxed out at 10 and STRUGGLED with the last 3. No damn way I could continue. I bike or run almost every day so legs and core are strong. I lift weights 3x a week. My arms are so puny. I'm in with you speedy.

    I haven't done a push up in 20 years. Didn't know if I could even do one to be honest.

    So, just out of curiosity, I tried one. And proceeded to do 35 with no problem at ALL!
    I was beyond pleasantly surprised. Shocked is more like it.

    Its actually pretty cool. It took only 2 weeks for me to double the amount of pushups I could do at one time. Only 2 weeks. I didn't think there was any way in hell I could double my initial test, in just 2 weeks.
