Leftover chicken legs are the best. Straight out of the fridge, no warming required.

My wife routinely makes enough for 3 dinners when she cooks, which is not very frequent enough sadly. One meal day 1, another meal in the fridge for later in the week and 1 in the freezer for a later date. She also tries to tell me eggs are good for 3 weeks past the date on the carton.
You test eggs by putting them in water to see if they float. Just like milk expiration, egg expiration is not necessarily on the date posted. If the eggs float, they are bad and toss them. If they remain at the bottom of your test container, even if they are "standing," they are fine. 3 weeks after is a big stretch though. She hasn't killed you with bad eggs yet, so she knows what she's doing!

so....if an egg is "bad" (i.e. a bad egg buwhahahahaa!) what are your clues after you crack it open? stench? different consistency?

please let me know....even tho I'd probably eat them anyway....they might just need a little extra hot sauce.
I always test beforehand if I'm wondering. Afterwards, they would probably smell gross & my guess is that at least color would be off. Eat enough bad eggs and your color might be off! :-&

    you sir, are a genius.

I took Hamsteak out of the freezer without thinking about sides and boom! this genius just handed me an answer.

One point IDK if it has come up - Chinese food. Leftover Chinese you must be careful with. I've got broccoli with scallops in the fridge that must be eaten by 9pm or tossed.Personally, I tend to eat the main focus of the plate (ie the chicken and broccoli) and leave the rice for a next meal. Next day pork fried rice doused in soy sauce - yum!
Seriously though, 48 hours for Chinese leftovers is pushing it.

Many a time I've downed cold lo-mein (probably doctored, but still) the morning after.

As for re-heated leftovers, few things beat lasagna, chili and pot roast.

Oh, and as to eggs - beware of those bits of red after cracking them.

Just made a massive pot of Spaghetti with a bunch Costco meatballs for easy meals this week. So easy to make and so very good.

The microwave is the least used appliance in my house. Pizza, soups, & pasta are the only leftovers I can stomach. And pasta is pushing it. Always seems to dry out when re-heated.

OP, You must have an iron stomach. If I ate the things you did with the expiration dates you did, I'm afraid that I would be violently ill. Whatever takes you where you need to go though. I admit that leftovers in my house get a 3 day rule. Anything over that gets pitched. If you lived closer, I wouldn't waste them and would just pass them on to you.

damn! I would love to have your leftovers. I have no "3 day rule" at all....fuzzy mold, slimy "oil slick" look, wrong smell are the only things to deter me....and sometimes mold can be cut/scraped off. :-$

Making a mental note: be prepared for a night of intestinal distress if ever invited over to imalive's house for dinner.

4 leftovers still in fridge: green bean casserole, cheesy Mormon potatoes, some chicken and noodles and ham. Not the Christmas Eve ham.....I finished that off.

I wish they would allow a toaster oven at work. I hate how a microwave "changes" food. But I eat leftovers all the time. I purposely make enough for lunch the next day.

Don't fuck with yogurt best before dates. Bad shit.

I believe we build up immunity to things such as bad food. Some can handle really old yogurt, some get sick the day after it expires. When I was in Marine Corp boot camp I don't think we washed our hands once in 3 months. You would take a crap, clean your riffle with gun oil soaking it into your hands, go play in some nasty smelly mud/standing water and then eat right afterwards with those hands. Never once did I get sick and very, very rarely now get stomach sick from food. I'm not saying I eat 3 week old ham like some above, but where some mexican food may give some the runs I'm fine with it.

So the lesson is don't let your kids wash their hands. They will be stronger later and will help make the super humans of the future.

For me, alcohol would just expedite the purging of expired yogurt.
