I was just looking up some travel advice on Poland and found this:

    http://www.worldtravelguide.net/country/226/passport_visa/Europe/Poland.html

    The important bit:

    (a) All visitors entering Poland must possess sufficient funds (at least PLN300 per day) to cover medical expenses (or a valid insurance policy or official invitation is acceptable instead) and PLN100 per day for accommodation and sustenance. (b) Nationals of countries not referred to in the chart above are advised to contact the embassy to check visa requirements (see Contact Addresses).

So, we're gonna need to carry some Zlotys in cash, ay? I figured I'll need some for the taxi fare anyway, but it seems like I'm gonna need a bit more than that.

*Do i need too book my ticket now or directly on the train?
*How early does the buses leave to warsawa airport from warsawa centralna?

They check how much money you have when you enter the country?! Never heard of that before.

Also, if we're only in for a day, do we need to apply for a visa and stuff? I presume not since Poland is in the EU now, but better safe than sorry.

kirkwood - spasiba is in russian, not polish and it's sort of a sore subject with us so careful there! ;)
you can buy train tickets from the ticket inspector but it's more expensive. the usual way to do it is to buy the tix at the train station in ticket boxes.
whether you can make it in time or not depends on how long PJ are gonna play.

fowls... brits and other europeans do not need visas to enter poland! also I highly doubt they are gonna ask you to show them the money. yes, having zlotys is a good idea 'coz this is the currency we use to pay for things here, just like the pound is in britain... you do not, however, need to have the PLN when entering poland, you can easily exchange euros or other currency here in banks or bureau de change (called 'kantor').
travelling is not as difficult as you guys make it seem, let your hair down and enjoy the experience! :)

    oh, and cropdustress: doubt it.

Isn't VELVET a Scottish beer from Tennents?

And BTW people - as karola said, you don't need any visa if you are an EU citizen. They won't check your wallet for money as well.

  • I've just ordered my ticket and booked my flights, i'm going on my own but it should still be great. A bit worried about travel between:
Krakow airport- krakow train station- katowice train station- stadium and back again in the early hours of the morning.
My flight leaves Krakow at 10:35 on the thursday morning.
I plan on getting the 1 am train from Katowice to Krakow and just getting a few hours sleep there. Is it easy to get from there to the airport i.e. early buses?
Anybody else from Scotland going to the Gig?

I'll be taxi-ing to the airport when we get to Krakow station, and crash there. I didn't feel it's worth my money to have a bed for around 4 hours before I gotta set off for my 8am flight. PM me if you wanna join us!

Trains to the airport start running from around 4:30, IIRC.

G´day. I´m maybe taking a flight from krakow aswell. Are we all going to the same airport? I´m flying with ryan air, It just says "krakow, krk".
But splitting a cab to the airport would be great.

As long as you're looking to get on that taxi once the 1am train pulls into Krakow station, sure!

For 400 PLN (approximately 137 $ / 103 €) you get seats in front of the stage, sector number 30, marked dark green on the image: http://www.pearljam.pl/images/sektory.png

As far as I know such ticket gives you a seating in a better sector and nothing else. Premium packages (with a party, "free" chapagne, beer and hostesses :)) cost about 700$

...but you can buy them only for a Genesis show, which is going to happen at the Silesian Stadium on 21st June.
