None of that article seems out of the norm though. One guy said he’s buying a gun because his neighbor has been threatening him, nothing to do with the virus. Asian-Americans are buying more guns because people are threatening them over this virus. Both se pretty legit reasons to me. Gun sales always go up when people think a Democrat might be elected. I don’t always agree with that, but that is completely “normal,” factor in the person Biden says he’ll put in charge has said “he’ll yes” he’ll take assault rifles away if he is in charge. So of course assault weapons sales go up. I’ve said before sometimes Democrats can be the best thing for gun manufactures.
And lastly, it does cite several cases of just fear of this virus, as mentioned in the leading sentence. That seems most reasonable of all. Things are already going crazy. It’s worse than when Popeyes ran out of their sandwich. And if people get that crazy over a chicken sandwich, imagine how it will get when people go a month without toilet paper and other basics. Compound that with little to no police force, yes, this has the potential to be very crazy. New Orleans after Katrina level of crazy.
If things really do get shut down for 4-8 weeks or even longer and if supplies are hard to come by, it has that potential.

What things are going "crazy?" People buying up all the toilet paper? Do people go out and buy guns to prepare for Black Friday shopping? What happened at Popeye's when they ran out of chicken sandwiches? Did you avoid the place, go and join the mayhem or buy a gun and then go try to buy a sandwich? The stupidity is one person saying he won't answer until he gets a hand shake and another interviewee saying its just the "flu," made up on one of the coasts. Well, does Middle America go out and buy more guns when the new flu vaccine comes out every year? If its "just the flu," why the panic? Madness.
Here's my prediction, for the months that we've been dealing with the Covid-19 flu pandemic, January through March, maybe into May or June, crime rates will go down and accidental shootings, particularly among or involving children, will go up. I'll update this when crime statistics for that period become available.

LA county sent a memo to all the deputies yesterday ordering them to only arrest for the most severe crimes because with courts being closed people who are locked up and expected to be put in a matter of days will likely be locked up for months instead and there is going to be overcrowding like they’ve never seen before. I know because my brother showed me this memo he got. It’s some crazy stuff they are preparing for. Average town mid-America probably won’t experience this, but LA probably will.

There always has been and probably always will be unwarranted fear on gun control. I won’t argue that. The article and your original post were about the recent spike in gun sales. The article seems to explain the spike is related to the virus. Without rereading it I remember every person who actually bought a gun and was asked gave a reason related to the virus and not the government, except one who said his neighbor had been threatening him. People I have talked to in the community have told me that there is a shortage of ammo and survival gear locally. I looked online to see for myself and it looks like 9mm ammo is pretty scarce.
It's more frightening to me that people are seemingly unwilling or incapable of adapting to the COVID-19 situation than the virus itself.
I sincerely hope that people desperate for food and supplies don't start targeting other people as the closures continue. However, I don't know if I could rule out that possibility with absolute certainty.

Dude, what’s your beef with everyone? What do you have against me for sharing information? let me help you with the fact though. I never said LA was on full lock down. I shared a memo my brother received saying all deputies are to report to patrol and vacation has been revoked. To be prepared for looting and riots in the event of a mass quarantine. Like what the Bay Area just didn’t, do why is it so unbelievable LA might do the same thing? Which happened today, he reported tonpatrol for the first time in 6 or 7 years, with his riot gear. That doesn’t mean he used it, just had to have it with him in the patrol car.
In that memo (and another one he shared today) states to only arrest for severe crimes. There is no link, this was a briefing with the deputies that my brother shared with me via text. Just sharing what my brother who is a cop in LA is sharing with me.Why would that be on the news? It’s not like the sheriff dept is going to notify the press and say “hey, by the way go tell everyone we are going to cut back in arrests.” A little common sense can go a long way. That won’t be an official stance the news reports. Again, just sharing what my brother told me who actually is a cop in LA. But I guess you know more about LA cops than an actual LA cop though. People in jail with court dates this week, next week, next month and so on will just be sitting in jail. They can’t continue to make arrests when the people already there don’t have a judge to see. It’s sort of common sense, why you think this is some big conspiracy on my end to make all this up is beyond me.

None of that article seems out of the norm though. One guy said he’s buying a gun because his neighbor has been threatening him, nothing to do with the virus. Asian-Americans are buying more guns because people are threatening them over this virus. Both se pretty legit reasons to me. Gun sales always go up when people think a Democrat might be elected. I don’t always agree with that, but that is completely “normal,” factor in the person Biden says he’ll put in charge has said “he’ll yes” he’ll take assault rifles away if he is in charge. So of course assault weapons sales go up. I’ve said before sometimes Democrats can be the best thing for gun manufactures.
And lastly, it does cite several cases of just fear of this virus, as mentioned in the leading sentence. That seems most reasonable of all. Things are already going crazy. It’s worse than when Popeyes ran out of their sandwich. And if people get that crazy over a chicken sandwich, imagine how it will get when people go a month without toilet paper and other basics. Compound that with little to no police force, yes, this has the potential to be very crazy. New Orleans after Katrina level of crazy.
If things really do get shut down for 4-8 weeks or even longer and if supplies are hard to come by, it has that potential.
I’m no saying it definitely will, but the level of chaos I saw on Costco 3 days ago, pushin and shoving, everyone acting like they are a contestant on Supermarket Sweepstakes, imagine how they will behave in a month if things get worse and no better. I don’t think that is stupidity and paranoia.

China's state news is telling their people that the American army are the ones that infected China...which is bullshit. So I guess Trump's trying to counter that bullshit. That said, HE shouldn't be the one to call it that. Like you said, for the sake of Chinese Americans that might be targeted. But while it might be irresponsible, it's not really xenophobic to call it a Chinese virus considering it came from China, and the virus is THEIR FAULT because it either came from one of their disgusting, inhumane street markets, or some lab fuck-up.

which seems very logical. Have you seen how crazy stores have gotten? How crazy people are now? I will be afraid if this gets as bad as China or Italy. I would anticipate full on riots and looting in major cities. The LA sheriff dept already told their deputies to only arrest for the most serious crimes due to overcrowding since the courts are closed. How long before people realize that cops aren’t enforcing shop lifting before people just start breaking into homes?

Here's my prediction, for the months that we've been dealing with the Covid-19 flu pandemic, January through March, maybe into May or June, crime rates will go down and accidental shootings, particularly among or involving children, will go up. I'll update this when crime statistics for that period become available.

Yes, I avoid Black Friday and I did avoided Popeyes when people were literally getting into fistfights over ordering the last sandwich. But I can only avoid buying toilet paper and groceries for so long.
While I’m sure gun prices have increased since 2000, this article specifically is taking about the recent spike, the fact that sales went up 68% during the last week of February. That is a huge spike, that if isn’t directly related to this virus has got to be the biggest coincidence I’ve heard of.
But your quotes from the article really have nothing to do with the theme of it. While pretty stupid I agree, one guy refusing to talk to the reporter unless he shakes his hand says nothing about guns sales. Honestly probably just his way of getting out of talking and nothing else. Some dude saying it’s just the flu, I took that as his way of saying this panic is over hyped. And it is in my opinion. While this isn’t just the flu (and for a while I thought it was, but realized I was wrong) it still doesn’t deserve this level of panic, and I think that was his point.
The spike of guns sales is because people are being blamed for this virus and others know chances of just total and utter chaos in the next several weeks are pretty high. There is likely going to be mass looting in major cities and people going crazy over basic supplies. I don’t think that makes then stupid to buy a gun if they feel threatened in that environment and become a responsible gun owner

There always has been and probably always will be unwarranted fear on gun control. I won’t argue that. The article and your original post were about the recent spike in gun sales. The article seems to explain the spike is related to the virus. Without rereading it I remember every person who actually bought a gun and was asked gave a reason related to the virus and not the government, except one who said his neighbor had been threatening him.
My point was the spike is not due to boredom as you seem to first suggest in your first post along with some random dude in a parking lot, but due to a fear of society as this virus unravels.

I guess the fear might be legit specially for people of oriental descent , dummies standing on line close to each other! If the bullets won’t get you the silent killer will..
It's more frightening to me that people are seemingly unwilling or incapable of adapting to the COVID-19 situation than the virus itself.
I sincerely hope that people desperate for food and supplies don't start targeting other people as the closures continue. However, I don't know if I could rule out that possibility with absolute certainty.

I never said LA was on full lock down. I shared a memo my brother received saying all deputies are to report to patrol and vacation has been revoked. To be prepared for looting and riots in the event of a mass quarantine. Like what the Bay Area just didn’t, do why is it so unbelievable LA might do the same thing? Which happened today, he reported tonpatrol for the first time in 6 or 7 years, with his riot gear. That doesn’t mean he used it, just had to have it with him in the patrol car.
In that memo (and another one he shared today) states to only arrest for severe crimes. There is no link, this was a briefing with the deputies that my brother shared with me via text. Just sharing what my brother who is a cop in LA is sharing with me.Why would that be on the news? It’s not like the sheriff dept is going to notify the press and say “hey, by the way go tell everyone we are going to cut back in arrests.” A little common sense can go a long way. That won’t be an official stance the news reports. Again, just sharing what my brother told me who actually is a cop in LA. But I guess you know more about LA cops than an actual LA cop though. So please share all your inside info with us? You don’t have to beleieve me, but you always seem to have a problem when u share some personal. It’s kinda weird actually.
