Yeah, my mate called me and said that the legal limit is 30 degrees, after which they can't make you stay, but then one of the managers said that there's no limit. Bah!

i checked this out last year... there is no legal limit but there are things in place like allowing workers breaks for fresh air, etc..

there is a legal limit for cold temp as things like ovaries can stop working if a woman is in the cold for too long... but the non implimentation of a high temp limit is so people can be furnace workers, chip shop servers, etc...

    this is true :)

Yes there's a minimum temperature but no maximum sadly. Everyone is different so it's impossible to determine what the limit would be.

You know if it gets too hot and really unbearable, you can ask to leave. Because everyone has different tolerent levels to heat, they can't refuse you going home when it gets really hot. :) I should know, I work in Health and Safety :D

as Stoney says, you can ask to go and they would have to give you a really good reason for not letting you... otherwise the could be endangering your health... we get all this stuff here in the local council as they dont want to be held liable for anyone dying on them.. i could say i felt yucky because of their flourescent lighting and they'd send me to a specialist in Harley street probably :)

Cheers, I could just say I've got a headache and ask to leave, but then I know what wankers they are here, and they'd probably decide not to pay me for the time lost. I know Dunkmans right and that there's no limit as metalworkers e.t.c have to work in silly levels of heat. I just wanna go to the pub and watch the football!! Sob, sob, weep, weep!! :(

Just say it's too hot, they really can't stop you leaving. Not sure about the pay issue, don't think they can deduct pay but I'm not sure. There's probably some Act covering it, I'll have to check :)

If you go to the pub just don't get caught :D

Non comprendo! My Spanish skills ended with Si Senorita! I'd be fucked if I ever fell out of a plane over south America. Although maybe they'd think I was some kind of god fallen from the sky and I could rule over them and receive lots of gifts made from gold and have my toenails manicured by bronze skinned beauties dressed in nothing but sandals and feathers on their heads?
Or maybe I'm harbouring a bit of an outdated opinion of South Americans, and a weird fantastical imagination with no basis in reality? Fuck it! I blame it on the heat!

I got caught once in the pub when I was off sick. Thing was I actually WAS really sick. Had been in bed all day shivering with a temperature and my cousin just signed for her new house and had come down from Dublin (she was buying in my town) so I couldn't say I couldn't go to the pub. I was sitting there in the middle of summer in a jumper drinking 7up and felt like absolute shite and one of my supervisors walked in. I got in such shit over that, lol. Their point was if I could drag myself to the pub, I could drag myself to work  Fair enough I suppose but I was working in a restaurant... the way I looked, if I were a customer I'd walk out.

Switzerland are higher ranked than Ireland arent they?? therefore Eire should technically struggle to beat them... such is the way of football ;)

That means that the US are gonna finish 4th in the world cup....better get to the bookies

Check the Temple Bar area and they seem cheap enough - 50euro each per night. Also, a key to booking places in Dublin is the postcode - Dublin 1 and Dublin 2 are the city centre (Dublin 2 being nicer cos it's the southside). Hope that's some help to ya. I don't know if I'm going to be around Dublin (apart from for the concert) so I'm afraid I can't offer my tour guide services :(

    http://www.hotel-ireland.com/temple-bar-hotels-list.htm

Thanks for the info.. greatly appreciated!

So, would the Temple Bar area be considered walking distance from the venue?
    1991 - Warwick RI
    1994 - Boston Garden 1
    2003 - Mansfield 1
    2004 - Boston 1 & 2
    2006 - Albany, Boston 1, Dublin Ireland
    2008 - Mansfield 1 & 2, EV Boston 1

Think it was discussed at some point how far it was from the venue but I forget :o

Anyway Temple Bar is where we will all be meeting in a pub before the gig and where we will probably be heading back to afterwards so if you come and find us (exact venue to be confirmed) you will have some company on the trip to the gig.
So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?

Ah yeh, well I'd advise getting a taxi TO the venue - but for some reason the walk back is never so bad - it's 15/20 minutes of a walk.
