Dusty Baker is doing an absolutely horrible job of managing this series. Whatever the problem was with McCullens he clearly needed to get him out of the game. After the 4th inning I told my son we were gonna score multiple runs (I said 2 I think) in the 5th and get the pitcher out of the game. When Schwarber fouled off the 1-2 I said "watch this pitch!".

Some dude whining in The Athletic comments that the Phillies are doing something bad in home games - the responses are priceless. Honestly they are hitting everywhere, just getting better pitching at home. Castellanos basically said their analytics dept figured out he was tipping his pitches. He also had a funny answer to his bad defense in the regular season - essentially "baseball is boring and I can't focus all the time but playoffs are different".

I agree 100% - Lance should have been pulled after 4 innings. He was clearly not pitching well and the Phillies definitely did their homework on him. He had quick 3rd & 4th innings and I thought for sure Hunter Brown would be in for the 5th. Whelp, that didn't happen. And the Phillies nailed him again. Well played by the Phillies from top to bottom. If someone is tipping their pitches, you absolutely should jump all over them. That's part of the game. The Astros should have realized that he may have been tipping...by the time they did, it was too late.

I hope all of you that went had a blast. I can tell you that I definitely did not enjoy that game. Ha!

Houston's bats need to wake up tonight & Javier needs to be lights-out.

I feel like the game was over after Ranger's first pitch. What an experience. About the loudest crowd I've ever been apart of...right up there with the '17 championship game. Incredible.

Yeah I thought Houston (or specifically Dusty) showed their hubris. I thought by the time it was 4-0 they would have people throwing in the pen, and every time I looked over there was NO ONE. I started screaming YOU'RE A COCKY MOTHERFUCKER DUSTY

Also...Cole Hamels should've thrown the first pitch by himself, not being one of four guys to catch a ball. He's a god damned WS MVP! We only have two of them in our entire existence. lol

    Tonight's gotta be Chase. Right?

Anyway people come here and I always tell them to get roast pork with sharp & rabe instead, and no one ever listens to me.

why does hamels get a pass for blowing '09 game 3 at home with a 3 run lead?  and going 1-2 in 09 postseason.  if he does his job in 09 game 3, we may be talking back to back.  I appreciate hamels, but i remember game 3 09 as much or more than i remember 08.  just one lifetime philly fans view.  hamels is a cupcake.

Ridiculous. Hamels is one of the franchise's greats and even left on top with a Wrigley Field no hitter (plus another 2/3 of a no no). His workload was massively increased in 2008 and he had an expected regression in 2009. His playoff performances in 2010 & 2011 were great.

Totally. They forgot how to field, how to run the bases, how to cover 3rd base, how to manage. It was a team failure.

I mean once Hamels basically said (paraphrasing), "I can't wait till this (season/world series) is over" during the '09 WS was pretty dumb. But I mean the same could be said of Cliff Lee in 2011 based on performance, but it's not the only thing we hold him to.

As time goes on I think it's better to look at the overall resume of what Hamels did here, and if it wasn't for him in '08 we don't win the first championship I got to experience in my life.

Hamels sucks because he's a MAGA douchebag but that's fine. He has a place in this city regardless.
