And I understand what you're trying to say. But, again, I'm taking that as you saying we should put masks on after the hospitals are filling up. And at that point - the fuck's the point?
No I am saying if we see a variant elsewhere in the world that is deadlier and leading to more hospitalizations and is likely to be precursor to what we'll have in the coming weeks, then I'd think a mandate would be worthwhile before we see the same thing here.
But for this current one, we have data from the UK and other places that shows it being more transmissible but much less deadly and not leading to higher hospitalization rates than previous variants. So putting the mask mandate in place, I think, wasn't really needed.
If our public health policy had been as stringent as theirs then I'd be inclined to agree. But it's not apples to apples.
Outdoors shit is cool though. The research is there that masks outside are silly unless you're literally packed like sardines right up on top of each other.
Some of us feel like we got our vaxxes & boosters and now we want to expose ourselves to the virus so our body continues to learn how to fight it, especially since it seems like they are never going to update these vaccines. We don't believe, by any means, that the pandemic is over, so please stop saying that. We sacrificed for so long, did our duty getting the shots, and this is our next step.

But they have and will update the vaccine. Moderna just came out saying as much.
Wearing a mask is your "duty" of "sacrifice", and no longer doing so is part of your "duty"? Admitting that a pandemic isn't over so mitigations to reduce the spread isn't worth it, and part of said "sacrifice"? What organization of the collective 'we' do you belong to that dictates this approach? 'Cause that's not how viruses, nor vaccines, work.
"Our". Ha. Thank you for your "duty".
No one will ever be able to tell me differently that this whole thing is the biggest paradigm shift in society. Toxic Individualism, let it rule. It's evolution, baby. Just a colossal disappointment across the board.
For context this makes more sense. Keep in mind our public health policy is being enforced by a Trump-appointed federal judge, so throw that into the formula. Again, at the end of the day scientists aren't making the decisions. This a ripple effect because of "MA RIGHTS THIS IS 'MERKA"
....also ironic Kenney is commenting on this being driven by political issues...

I don't know, seems like common sense to me. I find it kind of funny that a guy who cheered a guy getting cancer and wished a another guy to die here is trying to preach some moral high ground to the rest of us and/or society.
Oh and great showcase for the Phils’ offense on the national stage. They’re on ESPN again next Sunday against the Mets. “Can they flex baseball games?” wonders the viewer.

Any of you assholes watch The Boys on Amazon? It’s fucking outrageous and awesome
No but Winning Time and Barry are great on HBO (even if Winning Time appears to be greatly embellished)
Some of the portrayals of the players are so spot on. Quincy Isaiah's Magic is basically perfect. Didn't like the look of the guy playing Dr. J this week, but he definitely had the voice down.
I was skeptical about the resigning of Obdubel but he's playing pretty well so far. Go Phils!

Got 7 miles in down the Delaware yesterday, and RITFW from the 7/5/03 show came on the ear buds while looking at the E Center. Can't wait for this show.

My head almost exploded when they played that mid-set. Love surprises like that.
Yep. Once the fireworks started. What a night. What a tour. Saw them a bunch of times that summer.
Yeah I saw the most PJ shows I've ever seen in a year that year: five. Spectrum and State College in the spring, then Camden, MSG, and Hershey in the summer. Not sure how because I was a freshman in college with no money, but somehow I pulled it off.
Haha same, great summer, I'd say peak PJ touring. Speaks to our age, too, me thinks. I did Spectrum, State College, DC/VA, Camden, MSG, Holmdel. Alternating between school, shows, and the shore. I remember getting hammered then driving hungover down to DC, then to Sea Isle, then leaving from the shore ass early in the morning for Camden brushing my teeth in the parking lot of a liquor store somewhere near the venue, taking a nap under a tree near some baptist church in the middle of the striaght hood. Glory days, haha...
Yeah I turned 25 that summer so that was Peak Juggler as well. That Spectrum show was 19 years ago yesterday. I still consider that the best show I've seen. Definitely the best version of Black at least. We had perfect weather. An amazing tailgate and the Birds resigned Dawkins that afternoon too. What a time to be alive!
Also saw them in Vegas a couple months later.. That's about the only thing I remember from that trip.

Same here. Not only did I have my best seats I ever had at a PJ show, but that was easily the best arena crowd I've been a part of.

God bless the Spectrum. Yeah my seats were really good for that one too. Do The Evolution was amazing. "Dr J played here, let's sing in the choir!"
2003 tour was great. I did 6 that tour. Spectrum, State College, 2 Camden, Vegas and Holmdel. Spectrum was the best crowd ever and great tailgate. State College was epic but no beer sales was a bummer. Wasn't really a fan of either the Camden shows but they were ok although that RITFW moment was super cool. Vegas was a shit show and probably the drunkest I've ever been at a PJ show. Probably shouldn't have started drinking at the pool in the afternoon. Holmdel had the best seats I've ever had after trading up the MSG show. 7 rows dead center. That was one fun as summer tour.
2016 was amazing too. I think 2016 was even better as far as quality of shows . Did 4 shows that tour. Greenville VS. show, 2 Philly shows including the Ten show and Fenway 2 which was a fantastic show as well. All 4 were great and 3 were in my top 5 shows of all time.
my top 5 out of 29 and counting:
1 - Philly Ten Show 2 - Greenville VS show 3 - Spectrum 2003 4 - Vegas 200 10th anniversary show - a group of us were going to vegas at once a year in those years (before marriages and kids ended that being a normal thing) and a buddy of mine and I had no idea PJ was playing out there that weekend until about a month before the show. ended up getting tickets at box office at like 6:00 that night, one section over from stage. Fantastic show 5 - Fenway 2 2016.
Tom McCarthy won’t say “no hitter” that the Mets are pitching. I fucking hate him.
